12/20 TNA Impact Recap – You had better watch out… Santa Claus is coming to TNA.

Impact opens with some footage of Eric Young celebrating Christmas with some of his
relatives. The house they are at is surprisingly similar to Kurt Angle’s “house”
from the Thanksgiving show. Young introduces his family to Jeremy Borash, which
also consists of Cousin Leo, who look an awfully a lot like Cousin Luke from the
Bushwhackers.

The Impact intro airs as Mike Tenay and Don West welcome us to the show and we see
the Six Sides of Steel already set up around the ring, which is for Christmas Chaos.
Plus, we will see a double North Pole match and the Knockouts in a Santa’s Workshop
Street Fight.

Jim Cornette is away for the holidays so Matt Morgan is in charge and he is making
his way down to the ring. Matt Morgan wishes everyone a Merry Christmas to get
everyone in the festive spirit as we head into the first match.

Match 1: Rock ‘n Rave Infection/James Storm/Robert Roode vs. LAX/Scott
Steiner/Booker T (8-Man Tag Christmas Chaos Match)
The LAX manhandle Jimmy Rave in the opening moments with Hernandez launching Rave
head first into the cage. After kicking out of a pin attempt, Rave somehow manages
to make the tag to Roode, who comes in and takes control of the match over Homicide
as we head into a commercial break.

After the break, Homicide is still getting beat down by his opponents. Lance Hoyt
enters the match and charges at Homicide, but Homicide sidesteps Hoyt as he crashes
into the cage. Homicide tags in Booker T, who comes in and cleans house. The match
then breaks down as all 8 men get in on the action as the unknown member of the
Latino nation chases Christy Hemme up the entrance ramp. Back to the action, with
the match still out of control, Booker T manages to sudden cover on Rave for the
win.

Back at the holiday festivities with Eric Young, some of the TNA Knockouts appear.
Velvet Sky & Angelina Love come over to “service the guests”, as does ODB who is
looking to tend the bar. Awesome Kong is the next one in who doesn’t look too happy
when Young tries to find her a task to do before Santa arrives.

Team 3D and Johnny Devine come down to the ring –Ray and Devon are dressed as Santa
Claus and Devine is dressed as an elf. They invite Jay Lethal and the MMG’s down to
the ring so they can issue them all an apology for the way they have been treating
them the past couple of months. Midget version of the three make their way down to
the ring and Ray lets them all get on his lap so they can make their Christmas
wishes.

The midgets don’t like how they are being treated and begin to revolt. Team 3D take
them down easily as the real MMG’s and Jay Lethal come out and chase them out of the
ring. Sabin gets on the mic and says he doesn’t want to wait until later on in the
show to have their double North Pole match and wants to have it right now. The crew
begins to set up the ring as we head into a commercial break.

Match 2: Team 3D/Johnny Devine vs. Jay Lethal/Motorcity Machine Guns (Double North
Pole Match)
On one pole there is a tag that calls for an Ultimate X Match and the other one has
a Plate Glass Tables Match on it. Whoever gets the tag will have that style of
match at Final Resolution. Alex Shelley is the first one to get near to a tag but
Brother Devon takes him down with a superplex. Lethal enters the match and also
nearly takes the tag down, but Brother Ray is there and slams him down to the
canvas. Ray goes for the plate glass tables tag, but Lethal pulls him off of the
ropes only to but slammed down to the mat by Ray.

After a commercial break, all 6 men are on the outside of the ring beating each
other down. The midgets begin to help as Devine goes for the plate glass tables
tag, but Sabin hurries to the ring and knocks him off of the ropes. The MMG’s take
down both members of Team 3D in the ring as Jay Lethal and the midget Machismo nail
flying elbows on them. Shelley then climbs the turnbuckle to capture the Ultimate X
match for Final Resolution.

Back to the party, Kevin Nash arrives as Sky & Love flock to him. ODB call the two
sluts as they, as well as Jackie Moore, Ms. Brooks and Christy Hemme, get into a
scuffle as we head into a commercial break.

Back from break, Eric Young is cleaning up the mess left behind from the Knockouts.
Kurt and Karen Angle arrive. Young tells them that Santa is on his way as Kurt
pulls Eric aside to tell him that Santa doesn’t exist. Young doesn’t want to
believe him as Angle gives up and heads to get a drink.

Match 3: ODB vs. Roxxi Laveaux vs. Jackie Moore vs. Christy Hemme vs. Ms. Brooks vs.
Awesome Kong vs. Angelina Love vs. Velvet Sky vs. Gail Kim (Santa’s Workshop Street
Fight)
Gail Kim goes right after Kong as the two begin to fight on the outside of the ring
and up the ramp as the rest are going at it in the ring. There are toys and total
pandemonium in the ring as Kong makes her way back out without Kim anywhere in
sight. Kong re-enters the ring and clears everyone out landing an awesome bomb for
the victory on Friday night.

After the match, Gail Kim returns to the ring with a steel chair. Kim nails Kong
with three chairshots before Kong goes down. Kong manages to fight her way back up
and security comes down to the ring to separate the two.

Back at the celebration, Young thanks Matt Morgan for the awesome lineup for
tonight’s show. Chris Harris shows up and complains about not getting a gift and
the MMG’s show up with their midget counterparts as well. Jay Lethal and Sonjay
Dutt also stop by, as does So Cal Val, who brought mistletoe. Val holds up the
mistletoe and readies for a kiss from Lethal, but Dutt squirms his way in and steals
it from Lethal.

Backstage, Crystal asks Samoa Joe if he plans on attending the Christmas party. Joe
snaps back by saying TNA could better use that money to supplement his contract than
waste it on some party. Joe then tells Crystal to inform Matt Morgan that Joe will
make the party one he won’t ever forget.

A video recap highlighting the Abyss/James Mitchell & Judas Mesias feud is shown,
which brings us to our next match.

Match 4: Rellik vs. Shark Boy vs. Black Reign vs. Abyss (Silent Night, Bloody Night
Match)
This match has a barbed wire tree in the ring with presents under it. Each present
contains a weapon that can be used in the match. The match starts and Rellik is the
first to open a package, which is a golf club. Shark Boy is able to get the club
from Rellik and use it against him as Reign and Abyss fight on the outside.

After a commercial break, Rellik and Reign are seen working over Shark Boy as James
Mitchell looks on from the entrance ramp. Their teamwork is short-lived, though, as
both begin to fight over who will pick up the pin fall victory. Abyss comes in and
clotheslines them both and empties a bag of tacks and a bag of glass in the ring.

Abyss chokeslams Reign and covers for the pin fall, but Mitchell distracts the ref
causing him not to get the count. Abyss grabs Mitchell and then the lights go out
in the Impact Zone. When the lights return, Judas Mesias is in the ring and sends
Abyss face first into the pile of tacks. Rellik then delivers a Demon Driver to
Shark Boy to finally pick up a three count.

Samoa Joe arrives at the Christmas party and calls out Matt Morgan. Joe goes off
about TNA expenses for the party in comparison to being paid what he is worth. Joe
tells Morgan that if he is needed, he can be found at home. Joe then apologizes for
his outburst and wishes everyone, except for Sonjay Dutt, a Merry Christmas before
trashing the party set.

After a commercial break, Eric Young tells Jeremy Borash that Christmas is ruined.
Young is still under the impression that Santa is still on his way, who will fix all
of it. Borash tries again to convince Young that Santa isn’t actually a living
person when Santa does actually arrive.

Match 5: AJ Styles vs. Kaz (Grab the Reindeer Ladder Match)
A costume reindeer head is hanging above the ring. The loser of this match must
wear a reindeer costume. The match starts and the two start fighting on the outside
of the ring. Kaz delivers a suplex to Styles over the top rope and onto a ladder.
After showing that from a bunch of different angles, Kaz is seen setting up a ladder
in the ring but Styles is able to get Kaz off of the ladder before he can get the
reindeer head.

Styles begins to work over Kaz for a while before trying for the costume. Styles is
able to get a hand on it before Kaz pulls up the ladder, sending Styles flying off
of it and into the ropes. Kaz again sets up the ladder and climbs up as Styles
begins to climb from the other side. The two meet at the top and Styles hooks his
arm and slams him to the mat.

Kurt Angle begins to make his way to the ring and yells words of encourangment to
Styles, but it confuses him and distracts him from the match. Kaz again tosses
Styles off of the ladder and is able to climb back up to retrieve the reindeer head
for the win.

As Angle yells at Styles, he begins to put on the reindeer suit. He refuses to put
it fully on and TNA referees are there to make sure he does. The refs get Angle to
help get Styles to put it on. Angle hands the costume to Styles who puts it on, but
still refuses to put on the head, so Angle does it for him. Angle then tells Styles
that he is a disgrace and tells him to go to his hotel room and say “I am not a
reindeer,” 1000 times.

Eric Young and Santa Claus arrive in the Impact Zone. After handing out gifts to
the fans, Santa enters the ring and gives a TNA DVD to Angle. Angle tosses the DVD
out and tells Santa that his wish for Christmas is to give Christian Cage a set of
balls. He then attacks Santa and Eric Young and even applies the ankle lock to
Santa. Christian Cage pops out of a gift box and attacks Angle from behind. Cage
tries to lock in the ankle lock himself, but Angle squirms out of the ring and heads
up the ramp as Impact comes to a close.

Starman’s Thoughts
It just seemed like it was yesterday when TNA put on a special holiday show much
like this one. On Thanksgiving, TNA fans were treated to a special Thanksgiving
meal, a gimmick tournament, a turkey costume and a main event that featured some of
TNA’s younger stars.

With the holidays just around the corner, TNA fans were treated to a special holiday
edition of Impact that featured a party in a similar “house,” a bunch of gimmick
matches, a reindeer costume and a main event that featured some of TNA’s younger
stars. Hell, even the same person had to wear both costumes.

The gimmick matches were a bit much tonight, seeing as they were all gimmick matches
on the card. I will give them credit, though, for showcasing their younger talent
for once. Even though the end had to do with their established ex-WWE stars, they
were as prominent as they once seemed to be.

As I am in a jolly mood and handing out praise, I also have to commend TNA for how
they have been handling the new Women’s division. I have said a million times
before that I am not a huge women’s wrestling fan. As a matter of fact, when I
first heard that TNA was going to come out with a women’s division, I laughed at the
thought of it. I now stand corrected.

TNA’s Women’s Division is probably the best thing going in the company at the
moment. All of the girls seem fresh and the actual wrestling isn’t too shabby
either. For once, I actually care for a women’s division and am looking forward to
the second meeting between Kong and Kim or any other match involving all of these
women for that matter.

Now, if the other divisions and storylines could match up to this one, TNA would be
setting pretty good going in to the New Year.

One final thought – I can’t believe I saw Rellik pick up a victory this week. I see
Christmas came early for him.

Happy Holidays!
