Massive shooter expansion renamed - Half-Life 2 set for a slew of episodic content

Half-Life 2: Aftermath is no more. But don't spit your coffee over your keyboard just yet - the highly anticipated expansion has merely been renamed to Half-Life 2: Episode One.
At this point raised eyebrows and intense beard-stroking beg the question 'does this mean that there's more Half-Life 2 expansions on the way?' Yes it does, according to word from Valve marketing director Doug Lombardi. GameSpot asked Lombardi whether the renaming of Aftermath indicated a switch in tactics for HL2, to which he responded cryptically with "episodic". However, in answer to the obvious follow-up question of whether this means Episode One marks the kick-off of "a regular flow of content" (as GameSpot termed it) for Half-Life 2 from the developer, Lombardi replied "yes."

Good news all round then, although perhaps not entirely surprising considering Valve's Steam is an ideal platform for delivering episodic content - the developer's recently announced a partnership with Ritual Entertainment to release SiN Episodes, which is a series of episodic games to be distributed on the service.
Half-Life 2: Episode 1 is currently penned for an April 24th release. As always, we'll have more updates on the expansion as they come.
