The world's fastest man Asafa Powell
will headline the Men's 100m
heats on Super Sunday.

The Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games’ Super Sunday has sold out.

Super Sunday - 19 March - is the first day of Athletics competition at the redeveloped Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

It will showcase the best athletes in the Commonwealth, with three gold medals up for grabs - the Men’s and Women’s Marathons and the Women’s Javelin.

Other events include the Men's and Women’s 100m heats, the, Women's 100m Elite Athletes with a Disability (EAD) heats, the Women's Hammer qualification, the Men's Shot Put qualification, the Women's 400m heats, and the Women's 3,000m Steeplechase heats.

This news follows the announcement that 71 per cent of all Games tickets have been sold, seven days out from the Opening Ceremony, with 1.3 million tickets sold to date - a Commonwealth Games record.

Swimming, Diving, Synchronised Swimming, Track Cycling, regional Basketball, Netball and Small Bore Pistol events are all now sold out.
