Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Moves Into High Gear For Semifinals


As the road to NXT TakeOver: New York draws near, Aleister Black & Ricochet collide with #DIY, and Moustache Mountain battle The Forgotten Sons in the Dusty Classic Semifinals. Plus, Bianca Belair and Io Shirai compete to determine who will challenge Shayna Baszler for the NXT Women’s Title.

Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Semifinal Match: Moustache Mountain vs The Forgotten Sons

Bate and Blake start things off and Blake with a wrist lock. Bate with a reversal and take down. Blake with a slam and Cutler tags in and misses an elbow drop. Bate with a suplex and he gets a near fall. Bate with an arm bar into a wrist lock. Cutler with an elbow and kick. Cutler with punches and kicks in the corner and Blake tags in. Blake with a neck breaker for a near fall. Blake with a cobra clutch on Bate. Bate lands on his feet on a belly-to-back suplex attempt and Seven tags in. Blake is sent to the floor and Seven with chops and a DDT to Cutler. Blake with a kick and Seven with a slam for a near fall.

Seven with a chopand Cutler makes the tag and Cutler with a chop block as Blake holds Seven. Cutler with a kneeDT and he continues to work on the knee. Cutler kicks Seven and continues to work on the leg. Blake tags in and he hits a leg drop to the leg while Cutler holds Seven's legs across the apron. Blake gets a near fall. Blake with a spinning toe hold and then he does it again. Blake with another spinning toe hold but Seven with an inside cradle for a near fall. Blake keeps Seven from making the tag and he applies teh figure four leg lock but Seven reverses the hold. Blake makes it to the ropes to force Seven to release the hold. Cutler tags in and kicks Seven.

Seven with a sunset flip for a near fall to counter an atomic drop to the knee. Cutler avoids an enzuigiri and Seven with an elbow. Both men with clotheslines and both men are down. Bate and Blake tag in and Bate with clotheslines and a back body drop after an Irish whip. Bate with a drop kick to Blake and then he hits a running elbow on Cutler. Bate with an airplane spin on Cutler and then he sees Blake go to the turnbuckles and he gets Blake on his back as it is a jumbo jet airplane spin. Bate with a double rana and it sends Blake and Cutler to the floor. Bate misses a running shooting star press off the apron. Bate with an exploder and then he hits a running shooting star press on Blake on the floor.

Bate goes up top and hits a corkscrew splash but Cutler breaks up the cover. Bate sends Cutler to the floor and then he tags Seven in. Seven limps as he applies a full nelson and Bate hits the clothesline into a Dragon suplex for Seven but Blake's foot is put on the ropes. Bate with a plancha onto Cutler and Blake. Bate tags in and he goes up top. Seven gets Blake on his shoulders but the referee is bumped and Bate is pushed off the turnbuckles and Ryker hits Bate. Cutler takes care of Seven and then they hit the double stomp and reverse DDT combination for the three count.

Winners: Steve Cutler and Wesley Blake

Matt Riddle is in the back and he is asked about why he confronted Velveteen Dream. Matt says he wanted to see the title and say hi. Adam Cole interrupts and he says that Riddle is clueless to think that he deserves a North American Title Match. Cole says he will be the next champion and that is undisputed. Matt says that Cole talks a tough game but why not meet in the ring?

We are back and NXT Women's Champion Shayna Baszler joins the commentary team for the next match.

Number One Contender Match: Io Shirai vs Bianca Belair

Belair pie faces Shirai. They lock up and Belair with a full nelson and Shirai escapes. Belair with a shoulder tackle and she misses a drop kick. Shirai with a drop kick and Belair goes to the floor. Io sets for a dive to the floor but Belair moves. Belair catches Shirai off the apron and Belair drops Shirai on the ring steps. They return to the ring and Belair gets a near fall. Belair kicks Io. Belair gets a near fall. Shirai escapes a slam and gets a near fall with a rollup. Belair with a near fall on Shirai.

Belair with a double underhook but Shirai with a rollup and double stomp. Shirai with a drop toe hold and Io with a Tiger Feint Kick. Io with a springboard drop kick to Belair. Io with a running double knee strike into the corner and then she goes up top but Belair crotches Shirai and puts her in the tree of woe. Belair whips Io with her hair. Belair goes to the turnbuckles but Io stops her. Io climbs the turnbuckles and Io slaps Belair and then hits a Frankensteiner from the turnbuckles. Io goes up top for a moonsault and lands on Belair's knees. Belair with a spear.

Shayna gets up from the announce table and she makes her way to the ring and she pulls Io to the floor. The referee calls for the bell and Shayna with a Kirifuta Clutch.

No Contest

After the match, Kairi Sane makes her way to the ring and Shayna applies the Kirifuta Clutch on Sane. Io hits Shayna to force her to release the hold on Sane. Shirai sends Baszler to the floor. Io checks on Sane and Shayna returns to the ring and puts Shirai in the Kirifuta Clutch.

We take a look at Keith Lee and Dominik Dijakovic from two weeks ago. We see the confrontation that took place last week at the Performance Center. They will meet next week.

We see Aleister Black and Ricochet getting ready in the back for their match against Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano.

We are back and Shayna Baszler is asked why she did what she did. Shayna says everyone thinks they should face her for the title, but none of them deserve it. Shayna is told that she will face Io Shirai, Kairi Sane, and Bianca Belair at Takeover.

Dusty Rhodes Classic Semifinal Match: Aleister Black and Ricochet vs #DIY

Black and Ciampa start things off. They lock up and go to a stalemate. Black misses a round kick and Ciampa with a rollup. Black with a kick and a kick to the midsection. Black gets a near fall. Black with a drop toe hold and Black with an arm bar. Ricochet tags in and he works on the arm. Ricochet with an arm bar. CIampa with a side head lock and Ricochet escapes. Ciampa with a boot to the head and Gargano tags in. Gargano with a drop kick to the back of the head for a near fall. Gargano with an Irish whip and Ricochet floats over. Ricohet avoids Gargano and Gargano blocks the handstand head scissors but Ricochet is able to hit the handstand head scissors and drop kick. Ricochet sets for a dive to the floor but he sees Ciampa move Gargano and he does a super hero landing.

Ricochet with a drop kick and then Black and Ricochet sit in the center of the ring. Ciampa with a waist lock but Ricochet with an elbow. Gargano with a slingshot spear. Gargano with a suplex and he gets a near fall. Gargano sends Ricochet into the turnbuckles and Ciampa tags in. Ciampa kicks Ricochet in the corner. Ciampa catapults Ricochet's throat into the bottom rope and Gargano tags in. They make a wish using Ricochet. Gargano with a neck breaker and he gets a near fall. Ciampa tags in and he connects with a forearm to Ricochet's lower back. Ciampa with a neck breaker.

Ciampa mocks Black by sitting down in front of him. Ricochet is sent into the turnbuckles and Gargano tags in. Gargano gets a near fall. Gargano with a wrist lock and he puts the hand on the mat and stomps on the elbow. Ciampa tags back in and he snap mares Ricochet and applies a reverse chin lock. Ciampa keeps Ricochet from making the tag and Gargano tags in. Ciampa with a boot and Gargano with an enzuigiri. Gargano goes for the slingshot DDT but Ricochet blocks it and he punches Ciampa. Gargano with a clothesline to Ricochet. Ciampa tags back in.

Ciampa with a running knee for a near fall. Gargano tags back in and Ricochet blocks a kick from Ciampa and he sends Gargano into Ciampa and Ricochet with a neck breaker on Ciampa and Ciampa gives Gargano a DDT. Black tags in and he hits a running forearm and back elbow. Black with a kick to the thigh and a leg sweep. Black with a baseball slide to the head followed by a quebrada on Ciampa and Gargano. Black gets a near fall. Gargano avoids a suplex with a knee to the head. Gargano avoids a leg sweep and kicks Balck in the head. Gargano is sent to the apron. Black with a kick when Gargano goes for a slingshot spear. Black with a brainbuster but Ciampa breaks up the cover. Ricochet sends Ciampa tot he floor. Black with a back elbow to Gargano. Ciampa tags in and hits a boot to the head. Black wit a knee to Ciampa while Ricochet pulls Gargano to the floor. Ricochet misses a moonsault to the floor and Gargano with a super kick.

Black goes up top and Ciampa stops Black and hits Tower of London on the apron. Gargano with a slingshot DDT and Black kicks out. Gargano with a La Mistica into the GargaNo Escape. Ciampa with a Fujiwara arm bar on Ricochet. Ricochet gets Ciampa on his shoulders and drops Ciampa onto Gargano.Gargano holds his knee and has trouble getting up. Ciampa makes the tag and Ciampa sees Gargano down on the floor and Ciampa checks on Gargano. Ricochet tags in. Ricochet with forearms and Ciampa fires back but Ricochet with the advantage until Ciampa hits a forearm. Ricochet misses a kick but Ciampa with a knee and Ricochet with a Pele kick.

Gargano tries to get back on the apron and Black tags in. Black misses a round kick and Ciampa goes for the Fairy Tale Ending but Black with Black Mass and Ricochet goes up top for the 630 Splash and the three count.

Winners: Ricochet and Aleister Black

After the match, Black and Ricochet celebrate their victory in the ring.

The finals will take place in two weeks.

Candice LeRae makes her way to check on her husband. Ciampa goes over to check on Johnny. Ciampa and Candice help Johnny up the ramp. Johnny collapses in front of the trophy. Ciampa helps Johnny up again and Ciampa tries to send Gargano into the HunterTron but Gargano reverses things and sends Ciampa into the HunterTron. Gargano with a running knee. Candice is impressed with what her husband just did.
