Jushin Liger Announces Retirement Plans
Japanese wrestling legend Jushin Liger will retire from active competition next year.
At a Thursday press conference, Liger announced his plan to hang up the boots once and for all next January at the Tokyo Dome. Until then, the 54-year-old plans to wrestle around the world for one last run.
Jusin Liger has been wrestling since the mid 1980’s. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest and innovative junior heavyweights of all time.
During his memorable runs in New Japan Pro Wrestling, World Championship Wrestling, Ring of Honor and elsewhere, Liger won many championships along the way. He held the IWGP Junior Heavyweight championship a record-setting 11 times.
