RAW Results - 20th July 2009

We are live from Raleigh, North Carolina and your announcers are Jerry ‘Legs’ Lawler and Michael ‘Vintage VH1-Classic’ Cole.
We start off with the musical legend . . . John Cena and he comes to the ring. Cena says that he can already see that the word of the day is ‘excitement’. Cena says that he is always excited and he sees it in the crowd. John Cena then speaks for all of the people watching at home. Cena says that at Night of Champions, the fans will see one of the greatest matches ever. John Cena versus Randy Orton versus Triple H for the WWE Title. John says that he wants to put it in perspective. Cena reminds us that the three of them were in the main event at Wrestlemania.

Cena’s attempt to hype the match is stopped by the Viper who slithers onto the stage and comes to the ring. Orton wonders what Cena is so excited about because he reminds Cena about what happened in the match two years ago when he kicked Triple H in the skull and pinned John Cena for the victory. Orton holds up the title belt and then Orton says that history will repeat itself on Sunday.

Cena says that he wasn’t really paying attention to Orton tonight and he is caught up with the crowd and guest hosts. Cena suggests that we have some music. Cena mentions Orton’s entrance music lyrics and the reference to the ‘voices in his head’. Cena says that he hears ten thousand voices who want a preview of Sunday. Cena wants a fight but Orton wants to leave the ring.

Orton tells Cena that he might want to rethink what he is saying because Cody Rhodes (with the shirt) and Ted DiBiase come to the ring to surround Cena on three sides. Cena does not care because he wants a fight. Before Legacy can enter the ring, Triple H’s music plays and he comes out to even the odds. Legacy leaves the apron and Hunter stares at them. They head to the back but Hunter has something to say.

Hunter asks Randy and the girls if they were going to start a fight without him. Hunter says that he is at a point that he never thought he would get to. Hunter says that he does not care if he wins the WWE Title on Sunday. He does not care if Cena wins on Sunday. All he cares about is that Randy Orton does not. Hunter says that after what happened last week with Seth Green. Cena and Hunter try to figure out how tall Seth Green is and they decide on a hobbit. He says that Orton got punked out by a man the size of a hobbit.

Orton says that history will repeat itself on Sunday and now it is a three-on-two match if Cena and Hunter agree. Cena likes the way that Orton has played this situation because Orton knows that Hunter and Cena cannot co-exist. Hunter says that their egos will not allow it. Cena says that it defies logic, but they accept the challenge.

We see Billy and Dusty from ZZ Top in the office and they are happy to hear about the main event. They say that they are big fans of the WWE and they are running the show. Santino Marella enters and he says that they are his favorite band. Santino gets their names wrong and then they tell Santino that they have something special for him. We see Santino with a beard and hat. They perform Cheap Sunglasses.

We go to commercial


Kofi Kingston, MVP and Primo Colon vs. Jack Swagger, Big Show and Carlito

Out first for this next match is the WWE United States Champion Kofi Kingston. His partners out next are Primo Colon followed by MVP. Cole announces that these six Superstars will face off in a 6 Pack Challenge for the United States Title at Night of Champions. Out next is their opponents, Jack Swagger followed by Carlito and Big Show.

Swagger and Kofi start the match off and go to the mat. Kofi with an early 2 count via roll up. MVP tags himself in and double teams Swagger with Kofi. Carlito runs in but MVP drops him. MVP hits the Ballin' elbow on Swagger and goes for a cover but Swagger rolls out to the floor to regroup. We go to commercial.

Back from the break and Swagger has control over Kofi in the ring. Carlito is tagged in. During the break, Kofi got dropped over the fan barrier by Big Show. Carlito tags in Show and he comes in with kicks and chops on Kofi in the corner. Show with a big headlock on Kofi. Show drops a big knee on Kofi now and takes him back to the corner for more chops. Carlito comes back in and suplexes Kofi for a 2 count. Kofi fights back with lefts and rights but Carlito dropkicks him to the mat and tags in Swagger. Swagger with a big leg drop and a 2 count.

Carlito is tagged back in but Kofi fights him off. Kofi misses a dropkick. Kofi takes Carlito down and Primo is tagged in. Primo and Carlito trade shots. Primo hits a big clothesline and dropkick, then knocks Show and Swagger off the apron. Primo with a leg drop from the second rope on Carlito for a 2 count as Swagger makes the save. MVP comes in and takes Swagger to the floor and flies over the ropes onto him. Carlito goes for a Backstabber but Primo ducks and Big Show spears Carlito. Kofi takes Show over the ropes to the floor. Primo hits a top rope headbutt on Carlito for the pinfall and the win.

Winners: Primo, Kofi Kingston and MVP



After the match
Big Show comes in and spears Primo. He chokeslams MVP and then his own partner Jack Swagger. He pulls Kofi from the floor to the ring and knocks him out with a right hand. Big Show exits the ring as everyone is laid out.



Backstage
We go backstage where Santino is still with ZZ Top, talking about Big Show. They then talk about their tour this Summer with Aerosmith. Chris Jericho walks up in a suit. He says two icons in entertainment together tonight - him and ZZ Top. He talks about his band Fozzy and they haven't heard about Fozzy before. ZZ Top say they have Chris Jericho in a match with Mark Henry tonight. Jericho does a promo with Santino and ends up asking "How?" is he supposed to face Henry which leads to ZZ Top and Santino playing the band's hit La Grange as Jericho walks off. Back to commercial.


Jerry Lawler vs. The Brian Kendrick

Back from the break and The Brian Kendrick is arguing with Jerry Lawler at the announcer's table, saying he should be Chris Jericho's tag team partner. He takes a mic, insults Lawler and talks about holding the tag titles in the past. Kendrick says bring out his opponent. Lilian goes to introduce his opponent but Lawler stops her. He wants to introduce Kendrick's opponent. Lawler gets in the ring and introduces himself.

Kendrick mocks Lawler when the bell rings. Lawler knocks him to the mat. Kendrick gets up and unloads on Lawler with a bunch of moves. Kendrick with a big clothesline in the corner and a submission hold. Lawler fights back with rights. They do some more back and forth for a few minutes until Lawler hits the big fist from the second rope for the pinfall and the win.

Winner: Jerry Lawler


Back from a commercial and Josh Matthews is standing over near the stage and the fans with Mickie James. He asks her about her troubles with WWE Divas Champion Maryse and Night of Champions. She calls Maryse a tramp basically and says it's time to give Maryse a reality check. The Miz's music hits and out he comes to where they're standing. He says he has a real reality check for Mickie. He puts over Maryse and says in 10 years, Mickie will be working at a Waffle House. Mickie tells Miz he gets all his material off the internet. She says he can't score at all with Maryse. The Divas Champion Maryse walks over to where they're at. They argue and she sprays Mickie in the face with hairspray. Maryse's music hits, she poses and we get ready for another commercial.


Chris Jericho vs. Mark Henry

Back from the break and one-half of the WWE Unified Tag Team Champions Chris Jericho makes his way to the ring. Out next is his opponent Mark Henry, to a nice reaction from the crowd. The bell rings and Jericho goes out to the floor and the crowd boo's. Henry charges and Jericho goes back to the floor.

Jericho finally gets in and locks up but Henry shoves him to the mat. Jericho comes back with forearm shots but Henry lifts him above his head and drops him. Henry with a stomp and then stands on Jericho's chest. Henry is on the ropes when Jericho kicks him off. Jericho starts kicking at Henry but is holding his chest. Jericho with a low dropkick and more kicks to the head. Jericho works on Henry's leg now and dropkicks him again.

Jericho uses two more dropkicks and a shot to the knee to take Henry back down. Jericho with a 2 count and then a headlock. Henry gets up with Jericho on his back and rams him into the corner. Jericho goes back to the leg but gets clotheslined by Henry. Henry tosses Jericho with a big hip toss. Henry catches Jericho by his legs, spins him around and throws him across the ring. Jericho counters and hits a bulldog. Jericho tries the Walls of Jericho but Henry kicks him through the ropes and out to the floor.

Henry comes out to the floor after Jericho. Jericho hits him with a steel chair and the ref calls for the bell. Jericho hits Henry again. He tries a third shot but Henry grabs the chair and throws Jericho over the announcer's table. Michael Cole goes down. Henry throws Jericho in the ring but Jericho kicks Henry before he can get in. Jericho goes for a Codebreaker but Henry catches him and hits the World's Strongest Slam.

Winner by DQ: Mark Henry



Backstage
We go backstage with ZZ Top and Santino again. Chavo Guerrero comes walking in. Chavo talks about respect. ZZ Top say they have a match planned for Chavo tonight with Hornswoggle. They say normally this would be called a Tuxedo Match but tonight, it's a Sharp Dressed Man Match. ZZ and Santino play Sharp Dressed Man as we go back to commercial.

Hornswoggle vs. Chavo Guerrero


Back from the break and Lilian tries to introduce this match and botches it so bad she doesn't finish what she's saying. The winner of this match will be the first one to rip the tuxedo off his opponent. Hornswoggle comes to the ring first in a tuxedo and out next is Chavo. Someone's sewn the legs together on Chavo's pants and he's having trouble walking.

The match starts with some laughs at Chavo's pants. Hornswoggle chases Chavo around the ring and takes him down, ripping his jacket off. Hornswoggle kicks and jumps on top of Chavo and takes his tie off. Chavo with a kick to the face and he takes Chavo's shirt off now. Chavo manages to clothesline Hornswoggle and get to his feet. He rips Hornswoggle's jacket off. He takes one of the shoes off and throws it at Hornswoggle and does the same with the other shoe.

Chavo gets tangled up in the ropes. Hornswoggle starts pulling Chavo's pants off until he gets them. Chavo is trying to cover himself up in boxers as Hornswoggle's music plays and he knocks Chavo out of the ring. That's Hornswoggle's third straight victory over Chavo.

Winner: Hornswoggle


Backstage
We see Triple H getting ready when John Cena walks in. Cena doesn't understand some of Triple H's comments from earlier tonight about the WWE Title. Cena talks about them teaming together tonight and shutting Legacy up. Triple H says they can do that tonight but on Sunday, it's Night of Champions and they have a Triple Threat. Cena says he wouldn't have it any other way and walks off. Back to commercial.

Back from the break and Santino is with ZZ Top again, talking about what a memorable night it has been. They say something has been missing and in walks Kelly Kelly. She props one leg up on a chair as ZZ Top starts playing Legs. Alicia Fox comes in and starts dancing, making Kelly leave. Gail Kim comes in next and dances until Rosa Mendez makes her leave and starts dancing. Santino rips his coat off and is in a bikini bottom. The music stops and ZZ Top say they can't take it, they're out of here. Santino says his legs are beautiful and starts dancing on the chair as the music plays again. We go to the ring where Jerry Lawler and Michael Cole run down the Night of Champions card.

We see Chris Jericho walking away from the arena in the back. Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes walk up. They say they could jump him now but won't. They ask him who his partner is for Sunday and speculate that he doesn't even have a partner. They insult Jericho and his dad, calling him a benchwarming hockey player. Jericho says he has held more titles than them and their fathers combined. Jericho puts himself over and says the entire WWE locker room is begging to be his partner. Ted says maybe after they beat him and his partner for the belts on Sunday, Randy Orton will come out and kick Jericho in the head and put him out of action. Jericho says maybe Randy Orton is his partner and walks off. Back to commercial.

Michael Cole announces that Shaq will be the special guest host for next week's RAW.


Gail Kim and Kelly Kelly vs. Rosa Mendez and Alicia Fox

Out first is the team of Kelly and Gail followed by Rosa and Alicia. Rosa and Kelly start it off going back and forth. Kelly with a botch early on. Alicia comes in and Kelly gets a 2 count on her. Kelly tags in Gail who takes Alicia down with a head scissors. Gail comes off the top rope but Alicia kicks her in mid air for a 2 count.

Alicia works over Gail and they go back and forth some more until Kelly Kelly comes back in. Kelly hits the back elbow in the corner and a leg drop for a 2 count until Rosa makes the save. Kelly and Gail double dropkick Rosa and she goes to the floor. Alicia comes from behind and rolls Kelly up for the pinfall and the win.

Winners: Alicia Fox and Rosa Mendez


Back from the break and Lilian Garcia introduces tonight's guest hosts, ZZ Top. They pull beside the stage in one of their classic cars and wave to the fans.


2 on 3 Handicap Match
Randy Orton, Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena and Triple H


Voices starts playing as the WWE Champion Randy Orton makes his way to the ring with his partners Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes. Out next is Triple H followed by his partner John Cena. Cena and Cody start it off. Cena gets fired up early and hits the big bulldog. He goes to the corner and tags in Triple H.

Triple H hits Cody with a long suplex and drops a knee on him. Ted comes in but Triple H tosses him to the floor and then clotheslines Cody to the floor. Orton comes in but Cena drops him and sends him to the floor. DiBiase and Rhodes come back in and Cena and Triple H clothesline them right back out. We go to commercial.

Back from the break and Cena collides in mid air with Ted and both go down. Triple H and Cody are tagged in. Triple H unloads with rights and a high knee off the ropes. Triple H with the knee to the face on Cody. He decks Orton off the apron but turns around to a right from Cody. Ted is tagged in and Triple H fights them both off until they throw him to the floor. They distract the referee while Orton slams Triple H into the steps. Back in the ring now and Ted works over Triple H and tags in Orton.

Orton works over Triple H and tags back in Cody. Cody with some shots and another tag into Orton. Orton does the same and tags Cody right back in. Cody with more shots and a tag to Ted. Ted distracts the ref while Orton and Cody stomp on Triple H, still in their corner. Ted with a kick to the head for a 2 count. Orton comes back in and stomps away on Triple H before dropping a big knee drop. Cody comes back in and continues the assault on Triple H for a 2 count. Triple H finally fights out and tries for a tag to Cena but can't make it. The crowd starts chanting for Triple H as he tries to fight to his feet. Cody stops another tag attempt.

Another tag by Triple H is stopped by Cody and he drops The Game with a DDT. Orton is tagged back in. Orton starts kicking at Triple H. Orton hits the mat and goes for an RKO but Triple H counters it. Triple H hits the spine buster and both are down. Cody and Cena are tagged in at the same time. Cena hits the shoulder blocks and big body drop. Cena decks Ted off the apron. Cena hits the Five Knuckle Shuffle on Cody and goes for the Attitude Adjuster until Ted runs in. Cena takes care of Ted and locks the STF on Cody. Ted comes back in and breaks the hold. Triple H takes Cody out to the floor and lays him out. Orton gets tagged in by Cody and goes for the punt kick. Cena moves out of the way and rolls Orton up for the pinfall and the win.

Winners: Triple H and John Cena


After the match
Orton is shocked as Cena and Triple H stand in the ring. Cena and Triple H shake hands in the ring. RAW goes off the air with Legacy heading up the ramp and Cena and Triple H celebrating in the ring.
