A PERVERT who groomed a schoolgirl for sex was spared prison when a judge ruled he wasn't a "real paedophile".
Turon Ali, 26, sent explicit text messages to the 14-year-old and planned to abuse her at a secret meeting.
But her brother found one of the messages and tipped off the police.
Ali of Kennett, Cambs, admitted arranging to commit a child sex offence.
But Judge Gareth Hawkesworth, handing him a 12-month suspended term at Cambridge Crown Court, said: "You thought she was 'easy meat'. You are not a paedophile as such. You are a young man who was unable to control his sexual urges."
Campaigners yesterday blasted the judge. Claude Knights of Kidscape said: "Grooming a minor is a very serious crime, and needs to be recognised as such."
Judge Hawkesworth refused to jail both Cambridge Uni prof Nicholas Hammond in 2008 and student Jonathan Jenkins in 2009 for downloading child porn.
