A back injury has kept welterweight Mike Hanks away from competition for over two years now. With a torn bicep and no health insurance, Hanks had to leave MMA for a time and make money as a contractor.
"I've been trying to get back into fighting and have been training ever since," said Hanks to MMA Weekly. "I almost got onto the last welterweight season of The Ultimate Fighter. I went through all the cuts and the medicals and got cut at the very last minute."

Now healthy, Hanks looks to resume fighting and has a four fight deal with KOTC. In his return, he takes on Aaron Sutton this Thursday, June 13.

Sutton is 3-2 with one loss this year.

Moving ahead, Hanks is already booked for an October card as he looks to get back in the swing of things.
