Bristol City have confirmed the signing of Egyptian international striker Emad Meteb for a club record fee of £1.5m, subject to work permit.

The 25-year-old Sharkia-born forward arrives from Egyptian side El Ahly on a three-year contract after passing a medical.

Meteb arrives with a prolific record in Egyptian football, having scored 89 goals in 172 appearances for El Ahly in four seasons. The striker has represented his country 47 times, scoring 22 goals.

City's previous club record transfer outlay was £1.2m for Ade Akinbiyi just over ten years ago.
