Notes:

1. Ric Flair wins the NWA World Heavyweight Title from Sting, with the NWA no longer operating, Flair was recognized as the first WCW World heavyweight wrestling champion. Flair was then stripped on July 1, 1991 when Flair was fired by WCW.

2. Lex Luger defeated Barry Windham for the vacated title.

3. The title was held-up after a match against Ricky Steamboat on April 23, 1994 in Rosemont, Illinois when the match ended in a double pin.

4. The Giant wins the title by Disqualification. Jimmy Hart, who was Hulk Hogan's manager, signed the title contract so that the title can change hands on a Disqualification. He was stripped of the title on November 6, 1995 when WCW claimed the decision unfounded.

5. Randy Savage wins a 60-man battle royal for the title when he eliminated the One Man Gang. Hulk Hogan, who was not eliminated during the match, but was according to referee Randy Anderson thus awarding the title to Randy Savage.

6. The title was then declared vacant on January 8, 1998 in Dayton Beach, Florida by James J. Dillon because of the controversial ending in the match between Hulk Hogan and Sting on December 28, 1997 in Washington, D.C. and in another match on December 29, 1997 in Baltimore, Maryland.

7. Sting defeated Hulk Hogan for the vacated title.

8. Diamond Dallas Page defeated Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, and Sting in a four-corners match in which whoever gets the pin first, wins the title.

9. Diamond Dallas Page defeated Sting, Kevin Nash, and Bill Goldberg in a four-way match later on that night.

10. Randy Savage teamed with Sid Vicious in a tag team match against Sting and Kevin Nash. Savage won the title when Savage pinned Nash.

11. The title was decalred vacant on October 25, 1999 when Sting attacked referee Charles Robinson the previous night.

12. Bret Hart defeated Chris Benoit in a 32-man tournament final to win the title.

13. Bret Hart vacated the title on "NITRO" in the show and defeated Bill Goldberg for the title in the main event.

14. Title was vacated on January 15, 2000 due to Bret Hart's injury. Chris Benoit defeated Sid Vicious for the title. Title was then vacated on January 17, 2000 due to a dispute with WCW.

15. Sid Vicious defeated Kevin Nash for the title. Was stripped of the title a day later by "commissioner" Nash.

16. Kevin Nash awards himself the title after stripping it from Sid Vicious.

17. Sid Vicious defeated Kevin Nash and Ron Harris to win the title.

18. Vince Russo vacated the title on April 10, 2000 in Denver, Colorado. Jeff Jarrett defeated Diamond Dallas Page in a tournament final.

19. David Arquette pins Eric Bischoff in a tag team match to win the title in a stipulation tag team match between Diamond Dallas Page and David Arquette vs. Jeff Jarrett and Eric Bischoff. Vacated the title on May 1, 2000.

20. Jeff Jarrett defeated David Arquette and Diamond Dallas Page in a triple cage match to win the title.

21. Ric Flair was stripped of the title, the title was then awarded by Vince Russo.

22. Kevin Nash defeated Jeff Jarrett and Scott Steiner in a three way to win the title.

23. Kevin Nash hands the title over to Ric Flair.

24. Hulk Hogan pinned Jeff Jarrett to win the World Heavyweight Title. But, Vince Russo comes back out and explains to the crowd that he has been dealing with Hogan's politics all day and gives Hogan "his" WCW World title belt as the Hulk Hogan Memorial Belt because it doesn't mean squat anymore; Russo claims Jarrett is still the WCW Champion but with a new belt and will defend his title against Booker T, a man who has been "held back by Hogan for 14 years". Booker then pinned Jarrett to win the title.

25. This was a steel cage match. Title vacated by Russo on October 2, 2000.

26. Booker T. defeated Jeff Jarrett in a "San Francisco 49er box" match.

27. This is the first time the WCW World Heavyweight Title changed hands on WWF television.

28. The title was referred as "The World Title" aftere November 19, 2001.

29. Chris Jericho unifies the WCW World Heavyweight Title with the WWF World Heavyweight Title on December 9, 2001 when he defeated Steve Austin.

30. Title was resurrected and awarded by Eric Bischoff when WWE Undisputed World Champion, Brock Lesnar, was announced to be exclusive to the WWE SmackDown! show. So, Eric Bischoff announced that Hunter Hearst Helmsley is announced as RAW's World Heavyweight Champion. Title unified with the WWE Intercontinental Heavyweight when Triple H pinned Kane on October 20, 2002 in Little Rock, Arkansas.

31. Shawn Michaels defeated Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Booker T., Chris Jericho, Kane, and Rob Van Dam in the "Elimination Chamber" to win the title.

32. Triple H defeated Shawn Michaels in a "Best Two out of Three Falls" match to win the title. First fall was a Street Fight Match. The Second fall was a Steel Cage Match. The third fall was a Ladder Match.

33. Triple H defeated Bill Goldberg and Kane in a three-way match to win the title.

34. Chris Benoit defeated Triple H and Shawn Michaels in a Three-Way Match to win the title.

35. Title vacated by Vince McMahon on December 6, 2004 in Charlotte, North Carolina after a controversial match on November 29, 2004 in a three-way match between Edge, Triple H, and Chris Benoit.

36. Triple H defeated Randy Orton, Batista, Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho, and Edge in an "Elimination Chamber" Match to win the vacant title.

37. Batista vacated the title due to various injuries he sustained on January 10, 2006. Kurt Angle won a Battle Royal to win the vacated title.
