The third cricket test between New Zealand and West Indies ended in a draw today after the umpires abandoned play on the fifth day at 11am without a ball being bowled.

New Zealand won the series 2-0 and a draw was inevitable this week after persistent rain saw the third and fourth days washed out at McLean Park.

The match was left stranded with the West Indies on 256 for four.

New Zealand won the one-day series 4-1 and head to South Africa next week for three tests.

The draw breaks a runs of eight successive losses for West Indies as they head home for a seven match one-day series against Zimbabwe next month before hosting India for five one-dayers and four tests
