Giovanni Trapattoni's Republic of Ireland team will face Nigeria in a friendly encounter in London on 29 May, the FAI have confirmed.

The game will take place at Fulham's Craven Cottage ground and will serve as a warm-up for the Republic's crucial World Cup qualifying clash with Bulgaria a week later on 6 June.

Nigeria will provide a solid test for Trapattoni's side and are likely to call on experienced internationals such as John Obi Mikel, Obafemi Martins, and Fulham's Dickson Etuhu.

The Super Eagles are ranked second highest in Africa and currently lie six places above the Republic of Ireland in the FIFA World rankings.
