Kevin Sullivan, who co-authored the WWE Encyclopedia, will be releasing his new book "WWE Championship: Sports-Entertainment's Most Coveted Prize Uncovered" next week.

The book, which chronicles the creation of the WWWF title when the promotion split from the National Wrestling Alliance, runs down every major WWE championship change recognized today by WWE's
official history along with new interviews with a number of former and current WWE personalities, including Shawn Michaels, The Iron Sheik, Kevin Nash, and more.

The book is written to be palatable for the WWE audience, so don't expect lots of insider talk of politics (The Inoki switches in Japan) or dropped planned for switches (Ted DiBiase at Wrestlemania IV).

Instead, the book works as an overview of the championship, it's importance and the many colorful personalities who were tapped to carry what's become the most important title in pro wrestling history. Is it a perfect book? Of course not, but given the parameters and the space that Sullivan had to work with, I found it to be a fun read. Fans who want detailed rundowns of every championship program won't find that here. Fans looking for hundreds of pages regaling them on Bruno Sammartino and Pedro Morales will instead find the modern era focused on more, but that's a given based on the personalities that have driven the last few decades of the company.

Overall, a fun read well worth checking out next week.
