Samoa Joe has no chance of dethroning MJF, and the AEW World Champion has the numbers to prove it.

Joe and MJF have been at odds ever since All Out, when Joe pushed MJF to the side during the ROH World Television Champion's entrance, kicking off a brawl between the two. Prior to the brawl, MJF and Adam Cole had retained the ROH World Tag Team Championships against the Dark Order.

In a backstage interview with Renee Paquette in which Adam Cole was present, MJF spoke about the tournament to determine the next challenger for the AEW World Championship. Speaking about the possibility of Joe challenging for the gold, MJF used a familiar-sounding promo to explain why the veteran will not win the AEW World Championship.

"You see normally if you go one-on-one with another wrestler, you’ve got a 50/50 chance of winning. But I’m a genetic freak, and I’m not normal.

"So you’ve got a 25% at best to beat me. Then you add my boy Cole watching my back to the mix, and your chances of winning drastically go down.

"See, at our match at Grand Slam, you’ve got a 33 and 1⁄3 chance of winning, but I’ve got a 66 and 2⁄3 chance of winning, because everyone in New York knows you can’t beat me.

"So Samoa Joe, you take your 33 and 1⁄3 chance, minus my 25% chance? You’ve got an 8 and 1⁄3 chance of winning at Grand Slam.

"But then you take my 75% chance of winning, since we’re wrestling in my home state of New York, and then you add 66 and 2⁄3 % chance — I got a 141 and 2⁄3% chance of winning at Grand Slam

"See Joe, the numbers don’t lie. And they spell disaster for you in Arthur Ashe.”

Judging by the fan response in the arena, the audience recognized the parody of the infamous 'Steiner Math' promo from TNA Wrestling, in which Scott Steiner explained (with some questionable arithmetic) why he'd win the triple-threat main event at Sacrifice 2008.

MJF will hopefully want to have better luck than Steiner, as it'd be Joe who'd win the triple-threat main event despite Big Poppa Pump's calculations. Later on Dynamite, Joe would win the AEW Grand Slam World Title Eliminator Tournament, earning himself a title shot for later this month.
