Winnipeg Blue Bombers quarterback Kevin Glenn's great 2007 season was cut short when he broke his arm in the CFL East final.
Coming off a successful 2007 season, quarterback Kevin Glenn has signed a contract extension with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

The CFL team did not disclose terms when the deal was announced on Thursday.
"Kevin Glenn emerged as one of the CFL's elite quarterbacks this past season and we are delighted that he will be a fixture of this team for some time to come," said general manager Brendan Taman.

"His numbers this past season are proof of what he is capable on the field and he has developed into a real leader in the huddle and in the locker room.

"We expect Kevin will continue to develop as a result of his familiarity with our offensive system and having worked with our offensive coaches for a couple of years now. All of those things will allow him to be successful."

In 2007, Glenn led the league in total passing yards (5,114), completions (388) and attempts (621).

Those numbers helped propel Winnipeg to second spot in the East Division standings behind the Toronto Argonauts.

But Glenn was denied his opportunity to compete in the Grey Cup after he broke his left arm in Winnipeg's 19-9 road win against the Argonauts in the conference final.

Instead he was forced to watch as Ryan Dinwiddie made his first CFL start in the Grey Cup, won by the Saskatchewan Roughriders 23-19 at Toronto's Rogers Centre.

For Glenn, staying with the Bombers was an opportunity to build on their 2007 success.

"A lot of stuff came into play," Glenn said in a statement. "One of the big things is you want to be comfortable wherever you're playing.

"The grass is not always greener on the other side. Plus you want to play where you are wanted. We've also got a pretty good nucleus of guys coming back. This will be the first time I've played with the same guys on offence without a lot of new faces coming in.

"Success comes from continuity and familiarity.
