HEAVEN NEEDS A BIGGER BOAT: Jaws and SeaQuest DSV star Roy Scheider has died at the age of 75.
Roy Scheider, best known for his role as a small town police chief in the hit film thriller Jaws and his portrait of famed choreographer Bob Fosse in the biopic All That Jazz, has died at the age of 75.

Scheider died of complications from multiple myeloma, a cancer of the blood cells, at the Myeloma Institute for Research and Therapy at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock, a hospital spokeswoman said.

She said he had been treated there off and on for the past two years.

Scheider earned two Oscar nominations during his career, one for his lead role as Fosse in the 1979 film All That Jazz and the other as best supporting actor for playing a cop in the 1971 film The French Connection.
