Default NWA Anarchy TV Taping in Cornelia Georgia report:

NWA Anarchy ran their final TV taping leading into “Excessive Force” on May 20 at the NWA Arena in Cornelia, Ga last night. The big news: Mikal Adryan was pinned for the first time in an NWA Anarchy ring. For the most part, it was a good setup show. Lots of talking and just enough in ring. It was certainly one of the shortest (under two hours) television tapings ever, which in this case was a smart way to go. The crowd was energized, but with attendance down to 100, the pops were somewhat weaker across the board.

    (1) The Guys (Seth Delay & Patrick Bentley) beat Shane Marx & Chris Jordanson in 5:18. Guys gave their opponents a lot of offense. Too much, if you ask me. The jobbers jumped Guys from behind. Guys came back working the arm of Marx, who looks like a mini-Moe from Men on a Mission. Then it was heat on Bentley with a Marx spinebuster as the highpoint. When the jibronis telegraphed a double backdrop, Bentley seized the opportunity with a facebuster on Jordanson and an enzuigiri on Marx. Delay pinned Jordanson after Guys impaled him with a wheelbarrow/jawbuster combo.

An impromptu appearance by Jeff Lewis was instantly greeted with a chant of “Lewis sucks.” Lewis gloated about winning the tournament to become the number one contender, just as he predicted. Lewis said he had already proven that he was the best wrestler on television. At Excessive Force, he would prove that he was the best in the world.

Lewis’ delusions of grandeur came to an abrupt halt when Attorney Jeff G. Bailey and “One Man Mafia” Mikal Adryan entered the ring. Bailey said they were on the same page. Bailey said Chad Parham was an abomination of a champion, and the only reason he left with the title at Hardcore Hell was through the interference of Todd Sexton. Bailey sold Lewis on the idea of a Lewis/Adryan main event at Excessive Force. “You want it, whether you know it or not.” Bailey Bailey had a proposition for Lewis. In return for keeping an eye on that “bald-headed geek” Sexton during Adryan’s title match against Parham, Lewis was promised the first shot at Adryan. Bailey and Lewis hugged. Bailey said they were all on the same team. Adryan wasn’t feeling it.

The second installment of Anarchy owner Jerry Palmer in training was shown on the Wrestlevision. Both of them have done a great job getting across the toughness necessary to become a pro wrestler. It opened with Palmer already winded from doing Hindu squats. Then, Palmer felt the sting of the steel cables. Trainer Todd Sexton gave the viewers a close up showing that they were indeed steel cables not ropes. Palmer ran the ropes until he was blown up to where he bolted out of the ring and barfed in a trash barrel.

Devil’s Rejects made their way to the ring. The video packages that Anarchy created have added some pizazz to the entrances. Rejects is my personal favorite.

Dan Wilson’s act grows more bleak and perverted with each passing week. He’s a nasty, ugly person doing nasty, ugly things. Wilson prefaced his remarks with a blood curdling scream. Wilson said the long war for control of Anarchy was almost over. Wilson claimed that the Anarchy forces were in retreat (funny, it sure looked the other way around last week). Wilson said Ace Rockwell was down to one arm, and Rejects had taken the tag belts from “the cement baboons” known as Urban Assault Squad. Wilson said Anarchy’s last hope, Jerry Palmer, was a joke. Wilson ripped on Palmer for blowing chunks. Wilson said Palmer wasn’t prepared for the hell of Devil’s Rejects.

    (2) Devil’s Rejects (Tank & Iceberg & Azrael & Shaun Tempers with Wilson) beat Ace Rockwell & Slim J & Urban Assault Squad (Nemesis & Shadow Jackson) in 13:47. The match opened with two of Anarchy’s stiffest chop artists, Nemesis and Azrael, letting each other have it. The babyface side had the advantage until J tried to fly from the top on Iceberg. Berg swatted J like a fly and flattened him with the Thigh Drop of Doom. The next 10 minutes were hell on earth for J. Easily the worst beating J’s absorbed since his return. Among the highlights…Tank turned J inside out with a lariat worthy of the Stan Hansen seal of approval. Tank applied a camel clutch that Nemesis broke up with a headbutt. With J seated in the corner, Iceberg obliterated him with a cannonball splash. Tank gave J the Kobashi chop treatment. Azrael drilled J into the mat with a Thunder Fire Powerbomb. Azrael gave J Fall From Grace into a hangman neckbreaker by Tempers. Tank and Iceberg did a middle rope Hart Attack. Tank hit the Chokebreaker. Out of blue, J turned Azrael’s quebradora into swinging neckbreaker. Awesome spot. Rejects fed Jackson off the hot tag, but the timing wasn’t the best. Jackson hit an Angry Man Slam on Azrael. Iceberg went over the top on a double clothesline. While Wilson distracted the ref, Dominous entered the ring and delivered a devastating double chokeslam on UAS. Meanwhile, Tank was at ringside doing a number on Rockwell’s already mangled wrist with the Staff of Righteousness. Iceberg pinned Jackson with a Ground Zero splash off the middle rope. Wilson surveyed the carnage and issued a challenge for Excessive Force. “We’ll do the devil’s work all up your ass.” The babyface team departed with a collective look of determination on their faces.

    (3) Alabama Attitude (Adam Roberts & T. C. Carnage) beat Adrian Hawkins & Randall Johnson in 5:58. Tremendous pop for the local heroes, Hawkins and Johnson, who got off to fast start. Roberts tossed Johnson over the top to turn the tide. Attitude went to work on Johnson’s gut. Carnage did a gutbuster variant of Abyss’ Shock Treatment for a near fall. Attitude did a double gorilla press gutbuster. Roberts used a tilt-a-whirl gutbuster and a slingshot suplex for near falls. Hawkins and Johnson rallied with some tandem moves on Roberts. From there, it broke down to four way action, and Roberts pinned Johnson with an implant DDT. Attitude were fixing to whip the green boys with a belt when Guys ran in for the save. Carnage was limping on his way out.

    (4) Hayden Young defeated Salvatore Rinauro to retain the NWA Anarchy TV Title in 15:48. Sometimes even the best laid plans can turn to ####. This match didn’t flow well at all. The usually vociferous Arena crowd didn’t really get into it until the closing minute. I’m thinking babyface vs. babyface is not the way to go with Young at this stage of the game. I thought Rinauro might play subtle heel, but I can understand not wanting to go that route since he’s only recently become a full-fledged babyface. They opened up hold for hold. Rinauro reversed a hammerlock into an armbar and said that was European style. Young seized the advantage with a flurry of offense. Young mounted the ropes for 5 punches, did a backflip and hit a charging forearm. Call me old-fashioned, but I didn’t like seeing a white meat babyface resorting to closed fists for no reason other than to set up a flashy move. Young did a wild and crazy dive to the outside. Back inside, Rinauro took over with a dropkick, a stalling suplex and a trio of legdrops, all good for near falls. Young turned the momentum with an aerial attack. Young flew once two often and Rinauro caught him with a reverse atomic drop. Rinauro applied a wacky mat submission. Young reversed and Rinauro grabbed the ropes. They did back and forth pins that were no threat to Guerrero/Malenko. Young hit Caprice Coleman’s Thermal Shock for a near fall. Rinauro tried to bust out the Phoenix Fury Legdrop but Young blocked it. Rinauro hit the bicycle kick for a two count. Rinauro tried to bring Young off the apron with a tornado DDT that would have been a double suicide. Young blocked it and clotheslined Rinauro back to the inside. Rinauro hit a bulldog off the top for a great near fall. That got the crowd revved. Young barely kicked out before the three. Young did a springboard flip dive that wiped Rinauro out bigtime. Rinauro didn’t appear to be ready to make the catch. They tried to do a midair collision on a double springboard clothesline, but they were like ships passing in the night. I thought I felt a breeze. Rinauro got a back bridge pin, and Young reversed it with a double underhook for the 1-2-3. That didn’t look to hot either. Rinauro put Young over in the postmatch. On paper, it was a win over a high caliber opponent, but the champion exited with less steam than he had coming into it.

    (5) Chad Parham pinned Mikal Adryan (with Bailey) to retain the NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Title in 10:44. A terrific way to close the show. As a measure of how far his stock has risen, a vocal minority of fans were cheering Adryan like he was the real deal. That was a first. The pop for Parham was on par with those for Rockwell and Young, which hasn’t always been the case. Parham attacked and clotheslined Adryan over the top. Parham went for an ill-advised baseball slide and Adryan slung him into the rail. Parham fired a chop that exploded on Adryan’s chest. Adryan did more damage with the rail. Parham went for pescado, but Adryan made the catch and drove Parham’s back into the post. Adryan zeroed in on the champ’s back. Adryan hit a huge top rope lariat for a near fall. Adryan hit a swinging neckbreaker and made the belt-around-the-waist motion before covering for a two count. Parham didn’t appear to have any answers for Adryan’s attack. Adryan set up his double underhook suplex into the buckles, and Parham staggered him with an enzuigiri. Parham caught fire with a flying lariat, a back suplex and flying roundhouse kick. Adryan rolled a shoulder at 2 and ½. Sexton came to ringside. Bailey told ref Brent Wiley to get Sexton out of there. A collision sent Adryan and Parham to the canvas. Lewis ran in with a chair. Lewis swung at Parham (or did he?) and hammered Adryan instead. Parham hit a senton backsplash on Adryan. Wiley slid in to make the count, while Sexton cut off Bailey’s interference. The crowd popped huge, as it was the first time Adryan had been pinned since NWA Anarchy opened one year ago. Lewis stood on the ramp, shrugging his shoulders and grinning. Adryan and Bailey chased Lewis to the back. Sexton joined Parham in the ring for a show closing pop.

NOTES: The card for Excessive Force is as follows: Parham vs. Lewis for the heavyweight title, UAS vs. Tank & Iceberg for the tag titles, Rockwell & J vs. Azrael & Tempers, Guys vs. Alabama Attitude, Rudy Boy Gonzalez’s Texas Wrestling Academy All Stars take on Brett Thunder & Johnson & Hawkins and Krazy K & Dexter Poindexter (Kirby and T. J. Mack) make their return to Anarchy…PWE canceled appearances by Kevin Steen and El Generico for the 5/13 show, which was moved to the Waleska Ballfield due to a schedule conflict at the Canton armory…Dan Wilson pays a visit on the 5/10 edition of Wrestling Informer Weekly.
