Two pro wrestlers that helped put ECW on the map, the latter giving it some credibility in its early days are both set to retire.

Firstly, the Sandman after a recent blow-up at Lou Albano’s birthday has decided to quit the business. On his Myspace it reads:

“After Speaking With Tommy Dreamer & Having A Long Talk He Has Decided That After 20 + Years In The Pro Wrestling Business That It Is Time To Hangup The Boots & Call It Quits. He Would Like To Thank All Of You Fans That Have Supported Him Throughout His Time In & Around Wrestling. His Last Match Date Will Be Announced In The Coming Weeks. You Can Still Book Him In These Few Weeks. BUT After That He Said He Is Done. He Has A TWO Month Old Child & A Girlfriend To Look After So Now It Is Time To Step Out of The Spotlight.”

Although he’s retired more times that wrestlers have been called up from development, Terry Funk has also decided to leave wrestling as his knees physically wont let him do it anymore (in other words he can barely walk). Now there’s a man that gave his life to wrestling!

[It's wrestling and things can change at any moment, but in this case I think the Funker is more likely to stay retired and the Sandman will probably come back further down the line.]
