Dying Swayze says bye to family

Patrick Swayze has reportedly begun saying goodbye to his family after learning his pancreatic cancer has spread to his liver.

Swayze, 56, revealed in March he had been diagnosed with the disease and was undergoing aggressive radiation and chemotherapy treatments.

According to US magazine National Enquirer, the actor has now prepared for the worst and told his wife of 33 years, Lisa, that he does not have long to live.

"Patrick recently got word that the cancer had spread to his liver and that is what his doctors said would begin the countdown to the end," a source was quoted as saying in the magazine.

"Patrick knew it was coming because he was suffering increased weakness."

The Dirty Dancing star often feels faint and has trouble breathing when walking, the report said.

The claim contrasts with reports earlier this week that Swayze appeared reasonably healthy and was all smiles at the wrap party for his new television drama The Beast.

Before the Texan-born Swayze was diagnosed with cancer he had believed he was suffering from only chronic indigestion.

When the symptoms got worse, he went to his doctor and a biopsy revealed it was cancer.

Swayze joined the set of the The Beast in June after television executives consulted with the actor's doctors.
