The fighters for the first bout are ushered into the ring with backing music, but no official introduction. Cooper and Speight are announced once in the ring. There is a sparse crowd in their seats as the fight begins, though many are still finding their way into the arena.

BRETT COOPER VS. PATRICK SPEIGHT

Round 1 - A touch of gloves gets us underway. Speight starts out with several missed jabs, but a low kick connects. Cooper misses a few crisp jabs of his own. Cooper circles his left arm, looking for openings. He then connects with a jab and another low kick. Speight has the center of the ring, then turns it over to Cooper. The pace is slow, and the crowd voices their disapproval. Cooper turns it up and lands a nice combination of punches, followed by a second. An uppercut by Cooper lands, though Speight answers with a front kick to the body. Cooper scores with a three-punch combo, but eats a kick in return. Three right hands from Cooper find their mark, then a leg kick. Speight answers but is moving backwards. Cooper lands another right and Speight briefly clinches. Cooper continues to throw right hands, most finding their mark. Speight shoots in with a double, but Cooper sprawls and ends up on top. Cooper stands out of Speight's guard and dances around while landing kicks to the leg. Cooper calls for the stand-up, but the round ends. MMAjunkie.com sees it clearly for Cooper, 10-9.

Round 2 - Speight lands a left hand to open the round. He tries another lead hook, but Cooper follows with a low kick. Cooper lands a jab, then several crosses and is gaining confidence. Speight retreating, but does score a stiff jab. The two trade in the center with both fighters landing, and the crowd applauds. Cooper lands another jab and uppercut, but Speight stands and trades. Cooper lands another combo that visibly stuns Speight, then pushes him to the mat. Speight pulls half-guard and Cooper starts to work a bit of ground and pound. Speight remains calm and works to guard. The pace is a bit slow on top, and Speight works his legs up for a triangle choke. The attempt misses, and Speight returns to guard. Speight tries the maneuver a second time. This one is closer but still misses. Cooper stands out of guard. Speight follows and reveals a bloody nose. Back to the feet and Cooper lands a nice combo. As Speight backs away a right uppercut drops Speight to the floor. Cooper follows to the floor briefly, but the fight is waved off with Speight unable to defend. Brett Cooper def. Printed tickets showed a start time of 4:30 PST. We are nearing that time as Duarte and Rios make their way to the ring. The seats in the Honda Center appear approximately 15 percent full at this time.

ANTONIO DUARTE VS. ALBERT RIOS

Round 1 - A touch of gloves and we're underway. Rios throws a jab, but Duarte answers back with a flurry of punches and a low kick. Rios scores a nice left hand then shoots in for a single-leg as Duarte backs away. Duarte remains standing through the hold, but is eventually forced to the floor. Rios is in Duarte's guard, but stands when there is minimal action. Rios takes the center and chases Duarte. The action as a bit slow, but that changes when Rios is dropped by a Duarte shot. Rios sweeps to top, but Duarte rolls it again. Duarte tries another overhand right as the crowd erupts. Rios shoots in and again maintains the attack until working Duarte to the floor. The two stand and Rios tries a guillotine. Duarte slips out of the hold, turns away and tries a standing guillotine of his own. It looks deep, but Rios slips out. When the two return to the feet Duarte lands a crisp kick to the body. Rios lands a big right hand, and Duarte answers as time expires. A very close round, but MMAjunkie.com sees it for Duarte, 10-9.

Round 2 - The open with an exchange as the second frame starts. Rios works Duarte to the floor, but the pair pops right back up. Rios pushes forward again behind a flurry. Rios lands another good 1-2 and has become the aggressor. Duarte stands and answers with low kciks in return. Rios shoots in, misses with a trip, but keeps the movement going in working Duarte to the floor. Rios takes side control, but Duarte scrambles back to hs feet. Duarte misses with a big right and Rios answers with a left. Now Rios scores with a slapping low kick. Duarte scores a combination while pushing Rios into the corner, but Rios battles out with a flurry and takes the center of the ring. The two trade low kicks. Rios shoots in but Duarte fends off the attempt. Both fighters trade as time runs out on the round. Another solid round, and MMAjunkie gives it to Rios, 10-9.

Round 3 - Rios opens with a stiff right hand. Duarte looks to answer but can't pull the trigger. Rios scores a second time, first with his hands and then a low kick. Duarte scores with his own low kick but Rios uses his hands to counter. The two throw a quick exchange of punches and kicks in three different spots of the ring, but no one comes out the clear victor. Duarte throws a left hand, but Rios answers with a right. Duarte still showing good head movement and mobility, but Rios is on the attack. Duarte lands a low kick. Rios shoots in, but Duarte sprawls effectively. Rios won't relent, but Duarte gets underhooks and pushes away. Both score with punches as time is winding down. Rios tags Duarte with a right with less than a minute remaining. Duarte throws a left hand before the pair trade low kicks. A very close round, but MMAjunkie.com sees it for Rios 10-9 based on his aggression, and the fight 29-28. Albert Rios def. The arena is still filling as Davis and Quach make their way to the ring. The seating is now approximately 35 to 40 percent full, with the highest concentration of filled seats being located in the upper sections of the arena.

L.C. DAVIS VS. BAO QUACH

Round 1 - Local fighter Quach receives a warm welcome from the California crowd. The two touch gloves to start. Quach scores with a low kick but slips, and Davis shoots in. Quach remains standing as Davis forces him to the ropes. Quach circles off and the two hold an over-under clinch. Quach lands ashort elbow. David drops to shoot in and Quach grabs a guillotine choke. Davis falls to the mat but escapes the hold and stands. Quach scores again with a low kick. Davis shoots in with a successful double-leg and winds up in Quach's guard. Quach spins his hips to secure an arm but misses. As the two scramble to stand Davis locks in a guillotine and lifts Quach off of the mat. Quach will not tap even as he is stacked in the corner, still in the choke. Davis relents and Quach scrambles on top. With less than a minute remaining Quach scrambles and locks in a deep rear-naked choke. Davis is in trouble but will not tap. Quach heels kicks Davis in the belly while applying the choke, but Davis hold out the necessary time. The crows roars as time expires. Round 2 - The two open with low kicks before clinching. Quach uses the position to work Davis to the floor and moves to side control. Quach looks briefly for an arm, but Davis uses the scramble to pull guard. Davis tries to hold Quach close, but Quach postures and lands a few single shots. Davis bucks and Quach transitions to an arm bar. Davis escapes and winds up in Quach's guard. Quach's head is balanced on the bottom rope. Davis turns him away, pushes him down and looks to punch. Halfway through the fight and Quach scrambles. Davis moves to side control and Quach rolls to belly before standing. Quach rolls for a knee, but Davis puncishes him with several downward strikes. The two stand and clinch, and Davis looks immediately for a single-leg takedown. Quach blatantly grabs the ropes to defend. There is no stoppage to warn, and the two remain in the clinch as time winds down on the round. Another solid round that MMAjunkie.com sees for Davis, 10-9.

Round 3 - Davis lands a stiff jab to start. The two clinch and hit the floor with Davis on top. Quach has guard. Davis punches in Quach's open guard, then stands and passes to side control. Quach again turns to his belly in the position. Davis grabs his back, but Quach rolls out and takes top position. Davis is seated in the corner, and Quach picks him up and takes him back down. Davis rests in the corner throwing punches, and Quach smothers. Davis quickly stands and pulls Quach down from the over-under clinch. Davis throws punches from Quach's guard. Quach looks to roll for an arm, but Davis remains calm and continues to deliver strikes from the top. One minute remains and Davis passes to half-guard. Quach tries to roll out, but Davis defends and keeps Quach in a turtled position. Davis remains on top, delivering a few soft blows. Quach tries to stand as time expires. A stand-up may have been justified at some point in the last half of the final round, but the action was still entertaining as a whole. Quach's left eye is nearly completely closed, and his face is bruised and battered. Still, a courageous performance after taking the fight on less than two weeks' notice.

VLADAMIR MATYUSHENKO VS. ANTONIO ROGERIO NOGUEIRA

Round 1 - Nogueira opens with a low kick. Tentative start as the two gauge their distance. Matyushenko throws a low kick, but the crowd has started to voice its displeasure. Matyushenko circles as Nogueira lands a few left and right hooks. Matyushenko scores to the body but Nogueira answers. Nogueira clinches and scores a big knee to the gut. Matyushenko offers a small, slow shot, but Nogueira shoves it off. Nogueira out-boxing Matyushenko, but the pace is less-than-appealing. Two minutes remain and the crowd is increasingly restless. Nogueira throws a few low kicks. Nogueira throws a combination as Matyushenko covers up. Matyushenko circles around and backs away as Noguira holds the center of the ring. A left hand scores for Nogueira in the final minute. Nogueira looks to clinch as Matyushenko evades. A knee scores for Nogueira as the uninspiring round comes to a close. MMAjunkie.com sees it for Nogueira 10-9. The crowd sees themselves as down 10-8 after the opening five minutes.

Round 2 - Nogueira takes the center again. Matyushenko delivers a right hand up the middle. The two veterans seem content to box. Matyushenko wobbles Nogueira then chases him to the ropes. Another combo finds its mark as Nogueira tries to recover. Nogueira's right eye is reddened, but he seems to have recovered. Nogueira scores with a looping left hook. The pace evens with two minutes remaining. Matyushenko swings wildly but gets air. Matyushenko again scores with a jab but misses with the follow. Matyushenko again with a jab and move. Nogueira not quick enough to counter. Matyushenko ducks into an uppercut and Nogueira chases him around the ring. A knee scores for Nogueira and Matyushenko is rocked. Matyushenko covers up but Nogueira pounces. The flurry of knees and punches drops Matyushenko. Nogueira follows to the floor to finish the job. Exciting finish to save what started as a snoozer. We are now at intermission until the start of this evening's pay-per-view broadcast. MMAjunkie.com has learned that the Hieron vs. High fight, which was scrapped from the HDNet portion of this evening's broadcast, will be treated as a swing bout. Provided time allows, the fight will be broadcast on tonight's pay-per-view event.

BOBBY GREEN VS. DAN LAUZON

Round 1 - A touch of gloves to start. Green charges forward but eats a pair of heavy left hands. Lauzon looks for a takedown, but Green grabs a guillotine. Green lets in go in favor of throwing a knee, then follows it up with three more. Quick start as Lauzon continues to throw a heavy left. Green catches Lauzon low with a kick, and Lauzon collapses. Referee Herb Dean grants the fighter a reprieve. Lauzon takes his full time to recover from the blow. On the restart, Green apologizes for the shot, though during the replays broadcast inside of the arena he indicated a near miss. Lauzon starts quickly again, and shoots in after scoring with a kick. Green ends up on top and suplexes Lauzon when he stands. In a scramble Lauzon quickly grabs a triangle then transitions to an arm bar. Green escapes both and the pair moves back to their feet. Green pushes froward and clinches, landing with knees. One hits low again, and Lauzon immediately drops. Green receives a warning from referee Herb Dean. Lauzon again takes his time in the recovery of the direct shot to the groin. On the restart Green connects with a left. Both fighters swing and miss. Another kick catches Lauzon low. Referee Herb Dean stops action for a third time, though replays of the kick are a bit inconclusive as to the exact location of impact. Green points repeatedly to his thigh to show where he believes it landed. Lauzon looks at Green with disgust while trying to recover. Dean consults with California State Athletic Commission before deducting two points. The crowd boos on the restart and Green charges forward. He seems to have abandoned using the legs, and punches his way in. Lauzon rolls into a knee bar attempt. Green survives but gives up his back. Less than 30 seconds remain as Lauzon sinks the hold tighter. Green tries to survive but taps with seconds remaining. Lauzon crawls gingerly to the top rope before launching into a backflip in celebration. The fighters put the odd events of the bout on hold and embrace in the center of the ring. Dan Lauzon def. Though a few pockets of seats remain empty, specifically in the lower-level near the center of the arena, the crowd has grown significantly in size. Approximately 85 to 90 percent of the seats appear full. A large section on one end of the arena, behind the stage used for the initial fighter introductions during the pay-per-view broadcast, was not open for sale.

PAUL BUENTELLO VS. KIRIL SIDELNIKOV

Round 1 - Neither fighter eyes each other during the referee's instructions. A touch of gloves sets us started. Sidelnikov opens with a left, but Buentello moves forward. Sidelnikov evades and counters. A stiff left tags Sidelnikov, but he answers with a low kick. Buentello throws a combo, but Sidelnikov clinches behind a leaping left hand, a la Fedor Emelianenko. Sidelnikov pushes Buentello into the corner, but no real damage is done before they break. Both fighters score with single shots before Sidelnikov lands a three-shot combo. Sidelnikov misses with a huge left and Buentello clinches while dirty boxing in the corner. Sidelnikov circles off and puts Buentello in the corner. Both fighters trade while pushing away. Halfway through the first. Buentello lands when Sidelnikov tries a superman punch. Sidelnikov lands another heavy left as Buentello clinches. Sidelnikov pushes away and both fighters trade in the center. Buentello moving well and scores with one minute remaining. Sidelnikov clinches, but Buentello circles off the ropes and lands a lnee inside. Sidelnikov answers, but is cut under his right eye. Close, exciting round, but MMAjunkie.com sees it for Buentello, 10-9.

Round 2 - Buentello works two effective jabs and moves. Sidelnikov throws a leg kick and slips. Buentello works the head, then the body. Buentello showing improved cardio from previous performances to this point. Sidelnikov misses a lazy left hook and Buentello tags him with a heavy right. Sidelnikov slowing down, trying to pick shots. Buentello scores with a jab, then a cross. Buentello scores a 1-2, then gets wobbled by a counter. Sidelnikov pounces and pushes him into the corner as the crowd erupts, but Buentello wags a finger high in the air to profess his positive condition. Sidelnikov leans on Buentello in the corner, but Buentello circles out and lands a right. Sidelnikov shoots for a single leg, but Buentello sprawls out and returns to his feet. A right-left stuns Sidelnikov, as does an uppercut. A jab snaps Sidelnikov's head back. Buentelo slips a punch and delivers again. Buentello still moving well. Buentello nearly scores with a kick then delivers a heavy right hand. Sidelnikov tries to punch, but Buentello is moving well and snapping the Russian's head over and over. The bell rings and Buentello clearly edges Sidelnikov, 10-9.

Round 3 - Buentello again works the jab, high then low. Sidelnikov cuts off the ring, but Buentello circles out of the corner. Buentello working again to the body. The mouse under Sidelnikov's eye is darkening and growing. Buentello throws a jab, then two, then another. Sidelnikov has the center of the ring, but Buentello is moving around him and scoring. A quick clinch and Buentello pulls away while connecting with an uppercut. Sidelnikov breathes heavily after missing a long jab. Sidelnikov throws a low kick, and Buentello rocks him with a straight hand that impresses the crowd. Halfway through the final round and Sidelnikov clinches and drops. Bentello takes his back quickly but decides to push away (though in a rather odd use of his hips). Buentello tags Sidelnikov again with a straight. More jabs score for Buentello as Sidelnikov appears completely gassed. A knockout may be forthcoming. One minute remains and Buentello is still bouncing on his toes, peppering Sidelnikov with jabs. Sidelnikov spits out his mouthpiece, and referee John McCarthy uses the stoppage to check the growing cuts on Sidelnikov's face. Ringside physicians decide Sidelnikov has seen enough and the bout is halted. Paul Buentello def. Kiril Sidelnikov via TKO (doctor's stoppage due to cuts) -- Round 3, 4:18.

UFC light-heavyweight Keith Jardine causes a stir in the crowd as he makes his way to his floor seats. MMAjunkie.com has also learned from sources close to the event that the Hieron vs. High bout appears likely to follow the evening's main event.

RENATO "BABALU" SOBRAL VS. RAMEAU THIERRY SOKOUDJOU

Round 1 - A touch of gloves gets us started and Sokoudjou takes the center of the ring. Sobral misses with a jab, then the two trade wildly at each oterh. Sokoudjou backs out with a low kick and Sobral shoots in. Sokoudjou shrugs it off, but Sobral clinches again. Sobral tries a toss, but Sokoudjou ends up on top. The two scramble up and clinch. Sokoudjou's arm has the rope locked, but McCarthy's view is blocked. The stoppage is called, and on the restart Sobral shoots in. Sokoudjou falls and puts his head through the ropes. McCarthy halts the action and restarts the pair in the corner. Sobral maintains a clinch and pulls guard. Sokoudjou throws heavy punches from the top and Sobral scrambles away. On the feet Sokoudjou looks for a toss but Sobral reverses the move. The pair pops right back to their feet. Sobral grabs a leg, but Sokoudjou defends. One minute reamins and the action stalls. A few inside knees are trade, but the action warrants a break. On the restart with 30 seconds remaining, both fighters appear a bit tentative. With a close round in the balance, neither fighter advances until the bell sounds. The round is close, but MMAjunkie.com gives to Sokoudjou based on the effective striking on the ground.

Round 2 - Sobral backs up Sokoudjou with a few jabs. Sokoudjou tries a right hand, but Sobral ducks under and earns the takedown. Sobral throws rapid-fire shots, though Sokoudjou avoids most. The action settles and Sokoudjou hold half-guard. Sokoudjou ducks under the ropes as Sobral tries to throw punches. McCarthy stops the bout to move it to the center. Sobral stands, then tries to pass. Sokoudjou holds half-guard as Sobral looks to take a leg. Nothing is in the hold and Sobral rolls out to the side. Sobral quickly transitions to a north-south position and locks in an anaconda choke. Sokoudjou taps to the hold. McCarthy doesn't initially see the submission, but Sokoudjou continues to tap until saved. Sokoudjou remains on the floor for several moments following the stoppage, and a stool is brought to the center of the ring for Sokoudjou once he is brought to his feet. Sobral comes over to offer his respect, and Sokoudjou leans in his corner with obvious disappointment on his face. Renato "Babalu" Sobral def. VITOR BELFORT VS. MATT LINDLAND

Round 1 - Lindland takes the center of the ring and Belfort opens with a low kick. Lindland tries to feint shots while searching for his opportunity to clinch. Lindland tries to move in but is dropped with a left hand during a counter flurry. Belfort follows to the ground with rapid-fire right hands and Lindland is out cold. Lindland is out for several moments and tries to wrestle as he comes back into consciousness. Ringside physicians immediately call for a stretcher to be brought to the ring. Lindland sits up under his own power but is obviously disoriented. Doctors immobilize his neck, first with their hands and then with a brace. Lindland tries several times to rise two his feet but can't stand on his own power. After several more moments on the ground, Lindland rises to his feet as the crowd cheers. Lindland and Belfort embrace and Lindland is assisted out of the ring for further evaluation. Vitor Belfort def. Matt Lindland via KO (punches) -- Round 1, 0:37.

The arena appears nearly full at this point, and the crowd has become increasingly vocal. The arena continues to erupt in loud boos each time Tito Ortiz grabs the microphone.

JOSH BARNETT VS. GILBERT YVEL

Round 1 - Barnett shuffles as Yvel circles around. Barnett leads with a right hand but misses. Barnett paws at the air with his jabs. Yvel tries a high kick. Barnett grabs the leg and refuses to release it as Yvel throws punches. Barnett wresteles Yvel to the mat from the clinch, and Yvel hold half guard. Barnett unleashes a few punches from the top, then tries a kimura. Yvel pulls the arm free, but Barnett is working from a half-guard that looks more like side control. Barnett wrestles in for control of the arm again, but settles for punches. Barnett transitions to side control, but Yvel immediately regains half guard. The kimura just won't come, but Barnett moves to mount and begins to rain down blows. Yvel rolls to his sides as punches, elbows and hammer fists are fed in a steady diet. Yvel has an arm up in defense and referee Hrb Dean gives him every chance to survive. With time winding down Barnett continues the punishment, just missing a huge elbow that slams on the mat. Barnett moves up for a submission but Yvel slips out and stands as the round closes. MMAjunkie.com sees it for Barnett, 10-8.

Round 2 - Yvel comes forward quickly, but Barnett immediately tosses him to the floor. Yvel works from side control, delivering a few shots then looking immediately for the kimura again. Yvel holds half-guard, and Barnett turns his attention to passing. A few shots and Yvel opens the guard. Barnett moves to mount with three minutes remaining, but calmly gains full control before unleashing any offense. Yvel grabs Barnett's arms from the bottom, possibly looking for a stand-up. Yvel does not buck or roll, but rather looks to survive on the bottom. Yvel does eventually buck, nearly freeing himself. Barnett regains his position and drops a few shots from the top. Barnett is dominating position, but little comes in the way of offense. Yvel throws some shots that land from his back, and Barnett answers. As time winds down Barnett looks for an arm bar, but Yvel rolls out, sweeps and stands. Yvel drops back into Barnett's guard and lands a few heavy blows, but it is too little, too late in this round. Round 3 - Yvel breathes heavily as round three starts, but throws a few stiff blows that stun Barnett briefly. Barnett simply locks in and puts the fight back on the floor, moving directly to mount. Again, Barnett does little from the advantageous position, and the crowd boos while yelling for a stand-up. Dean watches closely as Barnett throws a few shots from top position, apparently just enough to keep the fight moving. Yvel tries to box from his back, and the final round is halfway complete. The crowd grows increasingly upset at Barnett's lack of offense from the mount. Yvel tries to buck and avoid the damage that now starts to come from Barnett. Yvel leans away and Dean steps in. It initially appears to be a restart due to the proximity of the ropes, but Dean has indeed waved off the bout. Yvel rises with a bloody mouth and swollen face. Josh Barnett def. The entire building is standing as Andrei Arlovski enters with a combination U.S./Belarusian flag waving at the head of his entourage. Emelianenko enters with his usual, solemn demeanor to a very warm welcome.

FEDOR EMELIANENKO VS. ANDREI ARLOVSKI

Round 1 - Arlovski feigns jab, the connects witha low kick. The two trade blows and Arlovski wobbles Emelianenko with a low kick. Chants of "Fe-dor" fill the arena. Emelianenko misses with a right hand and Arlovski connects to the body. Emelianenko closes the distance, narrowly missing a shot. Emelianenko scores with a knee inside as both fighters wrestle for position in the clinch. Emelianenko pushes Arlovski into the corner and lands a knee to the legs. The action slows and McCarthy breaks the two. Back in the center and Alovski looks for low kicks again. Both swing and narrowly miss. Arlovski scores with jab and a straight, then a front kick. Arlovski jumps in to pounce on the wobbled Emelianenko, but Emelianenko drops him with a crisp right hand. Arlovski is out cold. Arlovski stays down briefly, then rises under his own power. JAY HIERON VS. JASON HIGH (Swing Bout)

Round 1 - A touch of gloves gets us underway. High tries a kick to the body, then a shot. Hieron evades as High pushes forward. Hieron paws with a jab, measuring the distance. A right hand blasts High who is out before he hits the floor. Referee Herb Dean rushes in as High collapses in the corner. Hieron follows as Dean pulls him off. High is out only briefly, and he sits up in his corner, resting against the post. Impressive blow from Hieron. Jay Hieron def. Jason High via KO (punches) -- Round 1, 1:04.
