Reports surfaced earlier this week that World Extreme Cagefighting welterweight title-holder, Carlos Condit, would be making a move to the UFC and that has now become official with the champion making his Octagon debut on April 1st against Martin Kampmann at UFC Fight Night in Nashville, Tenn.

The bout was confirmed to MMAWeekly.com on Thursday by sources close to the fight.

Originally slated to be a part of the World Fighting Alliance, Carlos Condit made his move to the WEC after Zuffa purchased the struggling WFA and placed him in the welterweight division. After one fight in the promotion, he became champion by defeating John Alessio, and has since made 3 consecutive title defenses.

Constantly seen as a top ten fighter, Condit has fielded questions for some time now about a move to the UFC and now the New Mexico born fighter will have the chance to face the best 170lb fighters in the world.

Martin Kampmann will square off against Condit in his UFC debut, and the new 170lb prospect looked dominant in his first fight in the welterweight division at UFC 93 against Alexandre Barros.

The Danish fighter fought most of his career at 185lbs with big wins over fighters such as Thales Leites, Drew McFedries, and Jorge Rivera.

The bout between Condit and Kampmann will serve as the main event for the April 1 show that will lead into the debut of the 9th season of the "Ultimate Fighter" reality show.
