The following is the final card for the upcoming June 28 Ultimate Fight Night special on Spike TV:

Jon Fitch vs. Thiago Alves

Round 1: Alves comes out guns blazing in round one, hurting Fitch with a big bomb on the feet and then slapping on a guillotine choke that looked like a fight-ender. Fitch battled out, and ground and pounded Alves for the remainder of the round.

Round 2: Fitch opened up round two with a takedown. Fitch got mount and eventually got Alves' back. Alves fought off the rear naked choke, and wound up back on his feet. Fitch landed an upkick or two that dropped Alves, and followed up with ground and pound for the ref stoppage.



Jason Lambert vs. Branden Lee Hinkle

Round 1: Lambert gets a huge slam-takedown early, dropping Hinkle on his head. He eventually got mount and pounded away for the remainder of the round, where the fight was stopped as the round ended, due to Hinkle being "out of it."

Josh Koscheck vs. Dave Menne

Round 1: Menne opens up the round working leg kicks. After the feeling out process slows down, Koscheck lands a huge overhand right that stuns Menne. Koscheck finished the round working ground in pound inside Menne's guard.

Round 2: Menne begins the round again working his leg kicks. Josh again lands with some good punches on the feet, followed by a takedown. Menne slaps a guillotine on, but Koscheck easily escapes. Koscheck finishes the round with some punishing ground and pound. Menne looks pretty beat up.

Round 3: Koscheck opens the round with a takedown, but Menne secures a toe hold submission. Koscheck escapes, and finished the round in top position much like the previous two rounds.

Jorge Gurgel vs. Mark Hominick

Round 1: Not a very exciting first round. I'd probably lean with Gurgel due to aggression, plus he landed some effective leg kicks. Beyond that, the entire round was on the feet with neither guy landing anything clean. But again, Gurgel was busier so I'd probably go 10-9 for Gurgel.

Round 2: A little more exciting, but nothing really big happening. Close round, probably Hominick in this one, 10-9. Entire round was on the feet again, with Gurgel landing some leg kicks. Twice in the round Hominick caught Gurgel's leg and sweeped his other foot, putting Gurgel on his back. Hominick landed a decent combo with the hands at one point, other than that just a lot of pitter-patter punching going on.

Round 3: This round was good. Tough to score though. I'd lean towards Gurgel, but it was close up until the end, slight edge to Gurgel, but Hominick finished stronger. I'd go 10-9 Gurgel, giving him the fight 29-28, but according to Joe Rogan he thinks it'll be 29-28 for Hominick. Judges cards are coming up in a moment. After the horn sounded, both guys dropped down and starting doing push-ups to prove they weren't tired. Should have used more of that energy in the actual fight.

Mark Hominick def. Jorge Gurgel via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) after 3 Rounds.


Stephan Bonnar vs. Rashad Evans

Round 1: Rashad Evans 10-9. He got 4 takedowns, 2 of which were big slams. He landed a big punch inside Bonnar's guard that busted Bonnar's nose pretty good. Bonnar hasn't been able to get much going, as everytime they're on the feet Rashad takes him down. Bonnar is busy on the ground underneath Evans, but not effective. There was a very quick stand up after Rashad's first takedown, where Bonnar was working for a submission, but it was restarted anyway.

Round 2: Probably 10-9 Bonnar here, unless the judges are takedown freaks. Bonnar lands some knees early standing, a spinning back kick later in the round, and was busy underneath working for submissions. Rashad got two takedowns, but remained in Bonnar's guard and Bonnar got back to his feet himself both times. 10-9 Bonnar, although Joe Rogan gave this round to Rashad too.

Round 3: I really hope Evans doesn't get this decision, but he probably will. He got the takedowns again, but as usual didn't do much with them. Bonnar was trying to stay busy underneath, but unlike the second round he wasn't able to do much of anything. He had a guillotine at the end, but Evans got out quickly. 10-9 Evans, so 29-28 Evans. Judges will probably give it 30-27 across the board, which will make me want to vomit. Hearing the announcers talk about how dominating Evans was is also turning my stomach a little bit. If it was a wrestling match, domination. MMA, boring safe-played decision. We await the official particulars.

--OK, they are going to air the MacDonald/Rothaermel prelim bout next then it's Luke Cummo vs. Jonathan Goulet in a live bout.


--Alright, I'm thinking Cummo/Goulet isn't going to make TV. It was a swing bout, there's only 30 minutes remaining, and they're doing heavy build-up for Silva/Leben right now.


Chris Leben vs. Anderson Silva

Round 1: Holy sh*t. One-sided beatdown. Anderson destroyed Leben. Leben took his first few shots, but Anderson was relentless with knees and punches. Had Leben knocked out.

Luke Cummo vs. Jonathan Goulet

Round 1: They decided to air this fight after the main-event. Easy round to score, 10-9 for Goulet. On the feet, which the fight didn't remain long, it was pretty even. Goulet got Cummo down and got top position, and pounded Cummo for most of the round.

Round 2: Cummo dropped Goulet twice with strikes. Back on the feet Cummo jumped into a guillotine, and pulled guard to try and finish. Had it tight, but Goulet eventually got out. Goulet got on top and even got side mount. Goulet landed some vicious elbows that opened up Cummo pretty good on the hairline. This one probably goes 10-9 Goulet despite the knockdowns early from Cummo.

Round 3: Goulet got Cummo down early and worked some good elbows. Cummo seems tired. They scramble back up, and Cummo winds up getting Goulet down and on top of him. Cummo gets Goulet's back and is working a rear naked choke and with only 20 seconds it looked like Cummo was going to submit him. Goulet got out and rolled on top to finish the round with elbows.
