A Letter from the President of NWA Charlotte...

The past several days has been the most confusing and frustrating, yet thankful and educational days of my life.

I am here today to speak to our thousands of wonderful fans, the NWA staff, and the most professional locker room of wrestling talent on the independent circuit.

First, I want to thank the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Fire Department for making us painfully aware of improvements needed for the NWA Coliseum so it can accommodate the large crowds we are experiencing. CMFD accepts responsibility for not handling the situation properly, and those parties are being addressed and disciplined.

I , however, did not act professionally in the ring Saturday night, and for that I want to apologize. When I saw everything we have worked for over the past year apparently come to an abrupt end in seconds, feelings of defeat, anger, sadness, hopelessness and despair overrode sound business judgement.

We are working closely with the Fire Department and City officials to find quickly resolve any compliance issues so that we can re-open. Our fans have always been our primary concern and operating a safe facility for you to enjoy wrestling shows is more important than anything else.

The facts cannot be questioned. NWA Charlotte has seen an unprecedented success since January 24. We have accomplished what no one else in the history of Charlotte wrestling has been able to do: bring a quality show back to Charlotte with thousands of loyal fans. Our large and consistent attendance and a “who’s who“ in professional wrestling talent, has drawn criticism from jealous promoters, wanna-be critics and Internet “typewriter tough men“. To those, we are honored that you would think that much of us to spend the time reviewing us.

From this point forward, we will take the “high road.” A road that has no twists or turns. A road that can’t be divided. A road that paves the way for NWA Charlotte to return quickly to doing what we do best...entertaining the fans and providing a night of professional wrestling action. Expect to see us back much sooner rather than later.

It is amazing to us the power that people have to pull together in times of adversity. We see it on large national scales like hurricanes, big fires, deaths, etc. all the time. And now we’ve seen it on our own scale through the unprecedented outpouring of support from NWA fans.

On top of your kind words of support, willingness to donate money, time and resources, and your own example of banding together, two city officials called our NWA offices this morning and requested an urgent meeting at the NWA Coliseum.

The topic of the meeting was only focused on how to get us back into safety compliance and get us back in operation for our large number of fans. We were floored and are now terribly excited about what could possibly happen with opening back up the NWA Coliseum.

As a result of this meeting and the things that transpired, we could be back in operation quickly.

We should be hearing back from the city officials by the end of this week as to the probability of making this plan work. This is very exciting news and an extreme change of events from what we were faced with this past Saturday.

We want to thank you so much for your kind words, support and offers of all kinds of assistance. So we might be putting out a call to ask for your help!

We also want to thank Senior Fire Inspectors from the Charlotte Fire Department for their professionalism and simple show of respect in wanting to get us back in business quickly and safely. This is how it should have been handled on Saturday night.

At the same time, the NWA itself is coming to the rescue by offering assistance, guidance and support beyond where they need to go. We are thrilled to see the traditional spirit of the NWA come quickly forward with a helping hand and professional support. More on this later as well.

We are also locating the public records on the person that phoned in the complaint, which city officials are helping us with. It is 100% accurate that someone phoned in a complaint. It will be interesting to find out who this person is.

We will keep you informed as to the progress of everything. This is your professional wrestling promotion. These are your wrestlers…your facility. This is your NWA Charlotte! No one and we mean NO ONE will take it away from you!
