It still isn't out in America yet (that'll be later), but over in Japan, Level-5's White Knight Chronicles is set to receive its second major update since launching for the PS3 late last year.
Set to deploy sometime in August, the "2nd Wave" expansion includes a wide variety of additions big and small. Chief among them is the Georama system, a throwback to a feature Level-5 first included in their Dark Cloud series. Simply put, Georama allows you to construct a town of your very own, using a vast variety of buildings, trees, and other parts to customize the place to your liking. More stuff gets unlocked as your town grows, and you can also invite NPCs from the game to move to your burg, where they may open shops and offer you items you can't get anyplace else. WKC is fully online, of course, and you'll also be able to invite friends to your town and show off your killer medieval civil-engineering skills.

Other updates included with 2nd Wave: A vast array of new equipment and costumes, some battle system refinements, and a slightly nudged guild rank cap. For the first time, Level-5 and Sony will also be doing microtransactions for certain equipment and Georama items in the game, although president Akihiro Hino ensured to Famitsu magazine that the items (like in similar Asian MMORPG systems) will mostly be for looks only and won't be an integral part of gameplay.

Level-5 head Hino also dropped a few very small hints at a White Knight sequel, showing Famitsu two new screenshots from a previously-unreleased cutscene. "We want people to keep playing White Knight Chronicles for a long time," he said. "I think it'll get more fun and more large-scale as time goes on; it'd be nice if we can keep people playing this game right until the next one comes out."
