Sorry English speakers, you've had your chance. With Yakuza 2 having sold only 40,000 copies in North America, Sega has decided that it's not worth the cost to localize Yakuza 3.
Sega representative Ray Almeda put it bluntly when asked by the Examiner, saying that there would be "no Yakuza 3." Based on the numbers, Sega believes that it simply won't sell.
The series remains popular in Japan, regularly drawing top acting talent. At the moment, Sega is developing Yakuza 4, which features Japanese stage and film veterans Hiroko Narimiya and Kenta Kiritani. It will use the latest motion capture technology to insert their likeness into the game.
With Yakuza 3 staying in Japan though, it's highly unlikely that Yakuza 4 will ever make it over the west either. For fans of the first two games, it looks like it's time to start brushing up on your Japanese.
