PHIL SHATTER REMAINS NWA NATIONAL CHAMPION

In Show Results from Greg Price’s Legends Weekend in Charlotte on August 8-9 it was incorrectly reported that Too Cold Scorpio defeated Shatter for the NWA National Title. Shatter remains the NWA National Champion and was not pinned by Scorpio on the 1st night’s show, and the announcement to the crowd that Scorpio had won the NWA National Title was false. The NWA regrets the confusion created by Mr. Price.

    Rankings Notes:
    About the Rankings:

The top 10 ranking system has been adhered to both loosely and in some areas very strictly as a means for a professional wrestling league to rank talent, determine potential championship contenders, and to set up many new, different and exciting types of bouts. These rankings are determined by the NWA Anarchy Board of Directors which includes NWA official Bill Behrens, NWA Anarchy owner Jerry Palmer, and a few anonymous, experienced, inactive and respected wrestlers via a formula that involves won/loss records (obviously the most important factor), strength of opponents, and methods of victory (for example, more credence will be given to pinfall or submission victories over, countouts, DQ's and draws. Therefore if two athletes are neck and neck in the rankings, the competitor who's had more victories via pinfall or submission will win out.)As a general rule, if an individual or team defeat or defeats someone ranked higher than them they will move into their spot, and the defeated person or persons will move down one or more spots unless it's a championship bout where several other factors can come into play, or in a tag team match involving singles ranked competitors where consideration is given to the victory, but the rankings weight can vary. And finally, NWA Anarchy Owner and Matchmaker: Jerry Palmer and the NWA Board of Directors represented by delegate Bill Behrens do have the final say on any championship matches, and have full authority to grant title matches that aren't indicative of ranking status. This can occur when the officials feel a line has been crossed in a personal situation, and there is proper justification for putting the title on the line.

    A few items of note:
    Heavyweight Rankings:

    - "The Seven Figure Deal" Ace Rockwell takes a HUUUUGE jump 3 spots up to #2 with his countout victory over #1 ranked competitor and TV Champion "The Sleeper Cell" Shaun Tempers, and even though he was defeated by Tempers in controversial fashion in the subsequent rematch, the inactivity of his closely ranked peers like Fields, Judas and Kimo kept Rockwell locked in the #2 spot going into August.
    - "Merciless" Don Matthews spot in the rankings was short lived, through little fault of his own. It just seems his luck often dictates that personal grudges inconvienantly come knocking every time he starts gaining statistical ground. Just as he seemed to get his issue with Jeff Lewis resolved after over a year long rivalry, a lifestyle clash with the uncouth newcomers The Hate Junkies (Stryknine and Danny Only) seem to have Matthews and running buddy Jessco Blue on a collision course for another war.
    - Iceberg, while jumping two spots in the rankings, more due to his overall record as a respected legend in the NWA arena and other peoples mishaps than recent victories as he's had his sights on nothing but revenge lately, may also be taking a trip out of the top 10 and into the DL soon. We're still awaiting any official word on his condition but it was clear that Tank really did a number on him on July 18th.
    - The previously unranked "Great American Scream Machine" Brodie Ray Chase made big strides in jumping into the top 10 pool with a pinfall win over juggernaut Orion Bishop. Since Chase was unranked, this also knocked Bishop down 2 spots.
    - "The Technician" Todd Sexton is hanging on by a thread in the top 10. He's had a string of victories, but all over unranked heavyweight contenders, though some have been ranked in the Young Lion's division and that's kept him from losing his slot all together.
    - Slim J holds tight at #7 but by winning the Reid Clark Rumble, he's managed to secure himself a shot at NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Champion: Jeremy Vain on August 1st. Longtime fans remember their first encounter 7 years ago at NWA Wildside's Freedom Fight 2002 that put both men on the map as can't miss stars. Now their careers have come full circle with this exciting bout waiting in the wings, and needless to say a Slim J title victory shakes up the entire pool top to bottom.Vain picked up his first big title defense on 7-18-09 by pinning Young Lion's Champion Malachi after the VDT in a hard fought bout, also proving despite his known cowardice, Vain can get the job done in the ring when he wants to.

    - The New Wave (Derrick Driver and Steven Walters) cling tightly to the top spot as 2 time reigning NWA Anarchy tag team champions and a tag team phenomenon all across the southeastern region and soon, it could be the whole nation. They recently defeated former NWA World Tag Team Champions The Naturals in Charlotte, NC to win the Queen City Tag Team Tournament outlasting a field of teams that included current NWA World Tag Team Champions: The Skullkrushers, Team Macktion, Brad & CW Anderson, Ricky Steamboat, Jr and more and they've been seemingly unstoppable on the road, defending their NWA Anarchy tag team championships all across the southeast. Many executives in the major global wrestling organizations have deemed tag team wrestling dead and buried, but the incomprable and death defying tag team specialists, The New Wave, are proof positive that the above sentiment is anything but true.

    - And look who finds themselves back in the #1 contender slots again? Talent & Money (JT Talent & Drew Pendleton III). This brash and arrogant tandem are now on a mission to prove that they can be tag team champions without the help of anyone else. (We all remember the infamous "payoff" of Brodie Chase & Seth Delay to help secure T&M the gold their first go around). Why does it always seem that when the smoke clears it's Talent & Money vs. The New Wave. These two teams both came to prominence around the same time and have had their share of wars against each other. Are we seeing the makings of an all time classic rivalry?

    - And when the dust settles from that war, what about the developing rivalry between The Wild Bunch & The Entourage. The new team of "Hollywood Hacksaw" Andrew Alexander & "The Marquee" Mike Mosely have steamrolled through every team in their way up until they met up with The Wild Bunch who've seemed to have their number in the limited encouters we've seen, which is most likely what inspired the vicious post match attack on The Bunch adding injury to their insult, having just come up short in their #1 contenders match vs. Talent & Money.

    Young Lion's:

    - This division's current champion Malachi has been a quality athlete with class and dignity who represents the division with pride, always defending his title and always doing so in a sportsmanlike manner, and has even had the guts to get invovled in Heavyweight division affairs. There are plenty of great athletes on his heels but for now it looks like Malachi has a safe grasp on the Young Lion's Championship.

    On The Bench:

    - "The People's Champ" Shadow Jackson is still on the disabled list, but we are told is making a remarkable recovery simply with extensive training and rehab. We couldn't pry a potential return date out of his physicians though.
    - "The Son Of Satan" Azrael is in a bad way wherever he's decided to hole up and recover. Anarchy medical staff diagnosed him initially with severe lacerations to the mouth, near asphyxiation, internal bleeding, and several potentially broken bones, though the Rev stated he had his own "doctors" who'd tend to Azrael from there and later stated on TV that we may "never see him return". Of course Wilson and the truth aren't exactly known for being close pals, but it was clear that the attack from Iceberg took it's toll on Azrael.
    - Alan Funk, who suffered a bicep tear about a month ago is still out of commission, and from the extent of the injury, looks like surgery will be keeping him out of action for several months.
    - "The Feature Presentation" Jeff Lewis has taken a personal sabbatical back to the west coast after his recent loss to Don Matthews. No word on when or if he plans to return.
    - "Master Of The Claw" Rob Adonis is still sitting at home riding out his indefinite suspension. Jerry Palmer has still given no word on when or if the suspension will be lifted, and Adonis is probably fearing he may be the guy that just got an example made of him. Jeremy Vain has refused further comment.
    - It seems Adrian Hawkins and NWA Anarchy have parted ways. We've seen or heard nothing from the Arizona native since the temper tantrums he threw over his mounting losing streak and failure to capture Young Lion's gold.
    - Fans may have seen former NWA Anarchy Tag Team Champion "The Attraction" Hayden Young hanging around the arena recently. He'd taken a leave of absence to recover from a concussion, finish up his college education and let some old nagging injuries finally heal. He was very friendly in our recent conversation and seemed quite happy with his break, but when probed about a return to the squared circle simply said "never say never."

    Episode 174
    June 8, 2009

WRESTLING: (n.) \’res-ling\ A sport of contest in which two individuals face off in unarmed combat.
ANARCHY: (n.) \an-ar-key\ (1) A state of lawlessness due to absence of authority. (2) A complete lack of order.
What happens when you mix the two together? NWA-Anarchy!

    - Welcome to NWA Anarchy, this is PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING~! Welcome to the second half of the 13th Annual Hardcore Hell recap show. Last week, Malachi pulled off a monumental upset over Azreal to capture the Young Lion’s Title, and Shatter barely retained the NWA National Heavyweight Title against the Ricky Steamboat of NWA Anarchy, Ace Rockwell. This week, Truitt Fields defends the NWA Anarchy TV Title against Shaun Tempers with the Rejects barred from ringside.

    - The NWA Anarchy Tag Team Champions Talent & Money (JT Talent & Andrew Pendleton III) admits that the ladder match from Hardcore Hell 2008 made their career, but tonight they are going to end the New Wave’s career. Talent says they are going to have to go to church on Sunday morning after what they do to the New Wave.

    1. The New Wave (Derrick Driver & Steven Walters) defeated Talent & Money to capture the NWA Anarchy Tag Team Titles in a no DQ, no countout, pinfalls count anywhere match.
This match starts off with brawling at ringside which is the way it should have started several weeks ago. Both teams brawled throughout the NWA Arena. This match was quite the spectacle: Talent bled buckets, chair shots galore, insane bumps, and a special posterior kicking appearance by the Brody Ray Chase & Seth Delay. The Hands of Steel & the Great American Scream machine lambaste the New Wave while T & M hobble at ringside. Chase slams Driver head first into a chair wedged between the middle and top rope. At ringside, Talent collapses off the apron. Pendleton reenters the ring and sends their help to the back. Bad mistake by T & M. Later on, Walters lands a stage dive off the fence along the side of the NWA Arena. Delay & Chase head back out, but their help backfires. The New Wave channels the Spanish Announce Team awesome finisher the Spanish Fly on Pendleton for the victory. Story learned here, extreme thingyy wrestlers eventually succumb to their own weakness. Backstage, the New Wave reflect upon their victory.

    - The “Reverend” Dan Wilson predicts the demise of Truitt Fields because of Shaun Tempers’ infiltration plan. Tempers taught Fields that nice guys finish last. Awesome promo by Tempers.

    - John Johnson is joined by Truitt Fields. Fields is celebrating his third consecutive appearance at Hardcore Hell by promising Shaun will not like what will happen to him.

    2. “The Sleeper Cell” Shaun Tempers pinned “0% Body Fat” Truitt Fields to capture the NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Title.
NWA Anarchy Owner Jerry Palmer scorns Dan Wilson for trying to pull another trick. Palmer orders security to escort the miscreant peasant from ringside. You know, Fields has an action figure physique and wrestles like a commando. Tempers takes over after dipping on a cross bodyblock attempt and slowly tortures Fields. Fields channels Ivan Putski's Polish Power and executes an overhead release suplex to buy himself time. After commercial, the referee administers his count. Tempers crotches Fields on the top rope and sends him flying to the arena floor with a top rope clothesline. Tempers exhibits frustration when he fails to pin Fields. Fields catches Tempers on the top rope. Tempers escapes a superplex attempt, but Fields surprises him with a super rana. With two minutes remaining, Fields breaks the grip on the hangman’s neckbreaker and connects with a Northern lights for a near fall. With under 60 seconds, Tempers shoves Fields into the referee. Fields nails the Killing Fields, but there is no referee to make the count. Fields’ former partner Shatter makes his grand entrance and powerbombs him straight to Hades. Tempers seizes the opening with the hangman’s neckbreaker. The referee wakes up in time to witness Tempers terminate Fields’ 19 month reign as television champion. The Reverend has outsmarted Fields, the fans, and Palmer again. Well, Palmer only limited the stipulation to any past, present, or future member of the Rejects. Palmer is left befuddled.

    - Jeff G. Bailey says Mikael Judas should have stayed dead and Kimo is bread from birth to be a human weapon. Judas will pay dearly at the hands of the Butcher of Pyongyang. Another nig money promo from Bailey.

    3. Kimo w/Jeff G. Bailey fought “the Priest of Punishment” Mikael Judas to a double disqualification.
Judas starts off by stomping Bailey’s hand and then it all goes downhill. Kimo counters the chokeslam with a kidney punch, ducks the Mafia kick with a knee clip, and slithers out the El Crucifijo. After commercial, Judas lands his patented mafia kick and top rope clothesline. The referee disqualifies both men after they shove him aside like a rag doll. They continue to brawl as security heads out to break up the action. They obliterate security. Bailey places Kimo’s mask back on to escort him away. Some wrestler from the back heads out, gets in Judas’s face, and eats a chokebreaker for having the audacity to confront him. A two minute pull apart brawl would have sufficed here.

    4. Shadow Jackson pinned “Untouchable” Jeremy Vain w/”One Man Insurance Policy” Mr. Rob Adonis to retain the NWA Anarchy heavyweight Title.
Shadow starts off by applying the Figure 4, WHOO~! Mr. Adonis drags Vain to ringside to break the hold. Vain’s next attempt is futile and pays homage to Ric Flair with the Flair flip and Flair toss. Vain counters the 10-spot with side clip. Vain systematically demolishes Shadow’s injured ankle. Shadow buys himself time by avoiding the VKO and Vain’s manhood is paying the price. Shadow mounts a slow offensive, but Vain slows his momentum with a dropkick to the ankle. Shadow no sells Vain’s blows despite a distraction from Mr. Adonis. Vain fights back with the VKO. Shadow reverses the VDT with the 10-31 spinebuster for the victory.

OVERALL: New Wave/Talent & Money have the natural chemistry to pull on a great match. This match had the intensity that their match several weeks ago lack. You can't help but wonder where the T & M storyline with Delay & Chase are going, especially when both teams know how to exude thingyiness. It was time for Truitt Fields to cough up the TV title and Tempers was the right person to put it on. There was a surprise finish with special thanks to Dan Wilson's usual diabolical tactics. The lengths he will go to outsmart Palmer, Fields, and the locker room. A two minute pull apart brawl would have been fine. If done right, this feud can be milked for a long time. Unfortunately, the crowd was dead before the main event hit. It didn't help that Shadow/Vain moved at a turtle's pace. Even edited for TV the match seemed laborious. As for a major event, Hardcore Hell had a mixture great matches and brilliant storytelling.
