NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Chris Brown's agent has asked the Tennessee Titans to trade his client, apparently unhappy with the team's crowded backfield despite being the starter the past two years and at the top of the depth chart for this season.

"We've officially requested a trade for Chris," agent Wynn Silberman told The Tennessean on Friday. "At this point, we're waiting on a response."

Silberman couldn't be reached by telephone and did not immediately return e-mail messages from The Associated Press. The Titans declined to comment on the report.

The Titans have plenty of running backs to choose from this season after drafting LenDale White out of Southern California in the second round and with Travis Henry going into his second season after being picked up in a trade last year just before training camp.

Brown still is listed as the starter for the Titans after running for 851 yards in 15 games in 2005, well ahead of the 335 yards rushing by Henry who was suspended for four games. He ran for 1,067 yards, a 4.9-yard average, in 11 games as a starter in 2004. He put on some extra muscle this offseason to help his endurance.

But this is the final year of Brown's contract, and he is scheduled for $1.57 million. He changed agents earlier this year, switching from Bralyn Bennett to Silberman.

"We're kind of looking at the situation down there and we're not sure he's a great fit at this point," Silberman said.

"We feel he's a featured back with Pro Bowl potential and the opportunity may be better for him somewhere else in the league."
