After the match, the wrestlers enter the ring for the trophy presentation to Chris Hero. Hero gets on the mic and he says that he has been a royal pr*** in the ring and he might have done some things that were not fair. However, he does not think that Jeff Peterson would have minded. Hero talks about how he met Jeff in 1999 and he might not have known Jeff as well as some of the other wrestlers, he had a love for the business, fans, and the boys in the locker room. Chris says that Jeff would have been proud to watch this year’s tournament. He says that wins and losses do not matter; it is the effort that you put in regardless of how many people are in the building.

There was a seminar before the show that was given by Chris Hero. I really wished that there were a lot of the younger wrestlers in Florida who attended because I was able to see a part of it and a lot of the things that he mentioned in the seminar were incorporated by Hero during his matches. With the low turnout, I guess there are a lot of wrestlers who think they do not need to learn from someone who is well respected in the industry.

Everyone involved with organizing the show as well as the people who helped Naphtali to make this a successful show deserve a lot of credit.

DVD Thoughts:

Disc one is approximately one hour forty-five minutes long and disc two is approximately two hours long.

Your announcers for the DVD are Scott Hudson and Lenny Leonard.

On the first disc you can see a significant difference in the video quality between the hard camera shot and the ringside cameras. With the way that the ring was set up in the building, it really affected the visual aspect of the DVD because the crowd was so sparse for the size of the building.

The video from the hard camera on disc two is much better than on disc one. The size of the building made the crowd look bigger than it was. The ringside camera also looked better on the second disc than on the first disc.

I thought the best match from the first round was Erick Stevens versus Nooie Lee.

The best matches of the second disc were also the best matches of the entire tournament. They were the Erick Stevens/Chris Hero quarterfinals match and the Matt Cross/Chris Hero finals.

I thought Chris Hero’s speech was great and really captured the spirit of the tournament. I think too many people care about wins and losses so I think Hero’s comment is perfect.

This tournament really foreshadowed what we would see from both Chris Hero and Erick Stevens.
