After stating in a recent interview that he wanted to have his first fight by March, it appears fight fans will have to just a bit longer to see "The Animal" inside a cage.
In an interview with Ariel Hawani of Fanhouse.com, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker said that Batista is training hard for his first professional fight, which will take place for the Strikeforce promotion in the second quarter of 2011.
Coker said "there's still dialogue" with Batista and they are hoping to have him fight on one of their shows between April and June of 2011.
There have been reports that Batista's negotiations have taken longer than expected due to money issues. Batista is looking for a 3-fight deal from the promotion.

I'm gonna go the other way and say he will win his first fight... because I think they're throw in some shit opponent, like they did with Herschel Walker, that knows even less about MMA than Batista does. We'll see though, all depends on who he's against.
