Police in Leicestershire are investigating the deaths of a man, a woman and two children, all thought to be members of the same family.

The body of a 32-year-old man was found at Watermead Country Park on Friday evening.

On Saturday afternoon police found the bodies of a woman, 24, a three-year-old boy and girl aged two at a property on Jersey Road.

A Leicestershire Police spokeswoman said none of the people had been identified, although the woman has been named locally as Joy Small and her daughter as Chanara and son Aubarr.

The causes of death have yet to be established but the deaths of Ms Small and the children are being treated as suspicious.

The spokeswoman said: "Officers are not looking for anyone else at this time."

Some local people have suggested the couple had a tempestuous relationship and had recently split up.

Police have confirmed they received a complaint about Ms Small being doused in lighter fuel a few years ago.

Close friend Jennie Bland, 27, described Ms Small as "such a good person, she was a fantastic mum".

"She would have died for those children," she said.
