Fresh off a stint on "The Ultimate Fighter 16," big-show vet Sam Alvey has signed with the Canadian-based MFC organization and will get an immediate title shot.

Officials announced Alvey (19-4) will meet reigning middleweight champion Elvis Mutapcic (12-2) at "MFC 35: Reality Check."

The co-headliner takes place at Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The main card airs on AXS TV.

Alvey, who made a tough cut to 170 pounds to compete on "TUF 16," scored a big knockout of Leo Kuntz in the elimination round, and head coach Shane Carwin named him his No. 1 pick. But in the preliminary round of the UFC tournament, Alvey suffered an upset majority-decision loss to Joey Rivera.

Twelve of the show's 16 cast members, including Alvey, were cut from the organization following its regular-season run on FX. Alvey, who upset notable Karl Amoussou in his Bellator debut in 2011, now looks to build off a recent 4-1 run in professional competitiob. His past three wins, including one over Lucas Lopes at ShoFight 20 in June, have come via knockout.

He now takes on Mutapcic, who's posted nine wins in his past 10 fights. He made his MFC debut in August with a first-round TKO win over Jacen Flynn. Then in October at MFC 35, he won the organization's vacant middleweight belt after stopping Joseph Henle with punches in the third round.

The latest MFC 36 card now includes:

Mukai Maromo vs. Graham Spencer - for vacant lightweight title
Elvis Mutapcic vs. Sam Alvey - for middleweight title
Mike Hackert vs. Smealinho Rama
Luke Harris vs. Jason Zentgraf
Jacen Flynn vs. Jay Silva
