The latest "Iron Man 3" character poster has arrived, and this time the focus is the movie's mysterious villain, the Mandarin.
As played by Oscar-winner Ben Kingsley and seen in this image (revealed via Facebook), the Mandarin is a sort of super-terrorist. His presence was actually hinted at back in 2008 in the first "Iron Man" film, with a reference to his Ten Rings organization.
The character has always been considered Tony Stark/Iron Man's greatest and deadliest nemesis, dating back to his February 1964 introduction in issue #60 of Tales of Suspense, but is finally making his big-screen debut. The character's early, somewhat stereotypical portrayal as a Fu Manchu-type villain has been dropped.
The poster itself follows previous ones for Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), Jim Rhodes/Iron Patriot (Don Cheadle) and secondary villain Aldrich Killian (Guy Pearce). While we like what little we've seen and heard of Kingsley in the trailers, the poster itself is a little odd -- what's with the sunglasses?
"Iron Man 3" is out in 3D in theaters Friday, May 3.
