Two-time Newbury Medal E. L. Konigsburg has passed away at 83 years old.

American author and illustrator E.L. Konigsburg has passed away at the age of 83.

A two-time winner of the Newbury Medal, her works include “Jennifer, Hecate, Macbeth, William McKinley and Me” and “The View from Saturday.”

Konigsburg had majored in chemistry and taught science before taking the direction of an author.

Her vivid imagination touched readers because “her stories were inspired by observations and what-if-situations she imaged around her students and later children and grandchildren,” writes Nancy Churnin of Dallas News.

Konigsburg “changed the way I saw the world as a nine-year-old,” said Mary Pols of MSN TV in reference to her book “From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler.”
