Default Update On Sami Callihan Heading To WWE

Big Japan Pro Wrestling has announced that Sami Callihan has been pulled from a tournament they are hosting later this month. The promotion noted that this was due to Callihan signing a deal with WWE.

It was reported last week that Callihan was one of several performers undergoing the WWE medical screening. While Big Japan did note that the change was made due to Callihan signing a WWE deal, Callihan and WWE have not officially confirmed the news.

Default Sami Callihan Signs With WWE Says Big Japan Pro Wrestling??? - Update

Big Japan Pro Wrestling posted on their website that Sami Sami Callihan will not be appearing on their May 24th event due to signing a WWE contract.

    PWInsider

    - It was reported earlier this week that Big Japan Pro Wrestling announced Sami Callihan was removed from their next tour because he is signing with WWE. That's not correct as other sources report Callihan was removed from the tour because he has a family member dealing with a severe health issue. Callihan did not want to be out of the country for 7-10 days while this family member is dealing with their issue. Callihan is still expected to sign with WWE but him leaving the BJPW tour has nothing to do with them.

As noted earlier here on the website, the statement issued by Big Japan Wrestling regarding Sami Callihan wasn’t entirely accurate. While Callihan did pull out of scheduled appearances with the promotion, it was due to a family member dealing with a “severe health issue” and he didn’t want to be out of the country while it was ongoing.

Big Japan Wrestling stated that Callihan had signed with WWE preventing him from taking part in the tour. The last reports were that Callihan was talking with WWE and undergoing medicals, but that was the extent so far.
