After a nearly endless sea of rumors, leaks and teasers, the Moto X is almost here! Motorola has just announced it will be holding a press event on August 1st in New York City, with the Moto X as the center topic.

As you can see in the press invite, the phone is pictured in both black and white – though the handset is said to be available in a multitude of colors. Not much else can be revealed from the press photo, other than we can clearly see the familiar curved top ridge that we’ve come to associate with this handset.

In a nutshell, the Moto X represents the future of Motorola and its role as a Google company.

So what’s with all the commotion surrounding the Moto X? Hype aside, what really makes the Moto X stand out is that it is the very first Motorola phone to be built directly under Google’s guidance.

Beyond that, rumors suggest that while the specs are likely going to be mid-range, the handset will have several features that help it stand out, such as contextual awareness and special sensors. The Moto X will also be assembled in the United States, which will allow for unique customization options. Even better, Motorola’s flagship handset is expected to arrive on all four major U.S. Carriers roughly around the same time.

In a nutshell, the Moto X represents the future of Motorola and its role as a Google company. What do you think of the Moto X, excited or not?

Either way, be sure to tune in to Android Authority come August 1st, where we will be sure to provide you all the juicy details surrounding the company’s latest flagship.
