Classic Rivalry To Continue In Detroit
Thursday, September 21, 2006

The next chapter of one of the greatest rivalries in ROH history will take place on October 7th when ROH returns to Detroit. ROH World Champion Bryan Danielson's next defense will see him put the belt on the line against former World Champion and World Tag Team Champion Austin Aries. This will mark the fifth singles meeting between the two in ROH. Aries earned the title shot by pinning Danielson with the 450 in a non-title Four Corner Survival at "War Of The Wire II."

The first one-on-one meeting between Danielson and Aries occurred at the first "Survival Of The Fittest" on 6/24/04 when Danielson and Aries were the final two competitors of the six man elimination match. Fans consider this Aries' breakout match as he took Danielson to the limit.
Many called this the match of the year. Danielson took the win, but Aries proved to everyone that he was the next big star in ROH.

The rematch in August of 2004 saw Danielson and Aries battle for 75 minutes in a 2/3 Falls match. Aries scored the victory in this epic match at "Testing The Limit."

Bryan Danielson challenged Austin Aries for Aries' World Title in May of 2005 at "Nowhere To Run." The result was another great match and an Aries victory. Danielson left ROH after this match out of frustration from not winning the belt.

When Danielson returned to ROH he won the World Title and made his first defense against Aries on 10/14/05 at "Enter The Dragon." This was another hard-fought, classic wrestling contest.

Now Detroit will see the fifth bout of this storied rivalry. This match will be unique in that both athletes have injuries. Danielson must protect his shoulder while Aries has to be careful of his ribs.
This is going to be a match of guts, strategy and athleticism. Danielson and Aries have both proved to have an incredible tolerance for pain. They both put the highest value on the ROH World Title. These fighters will put it all on the line in this one.

Who will get the advantage and break the 2-2 tie? Can Aries be the first man ever to win the ROH World Title twice? Will Danielson's legacy grow as he continues his tremendous title reign?
