One of the key contributors to a break down in TNA's relationship with Spike TV was Eric Bischoff being sent home to run out his contract, according to former writer Vince Russo.

"The representatives at Spike TV loved Eric Bischoff. Eric was probably more in touch with Spike TV than Dixie Carter," according to Russo talking to the Gerweck Report podcast.

Bischoff, who had years of TV industry experience managing WCW, was sent home by TNA executive John Gaburick, according to Russo.

"I think it was a crucial mistake, knowing that their contract was up in about a year at the time or whatever it was, for them to send Eric Bischoff home when they did," Russo said. "I think that had a lot to do with the break down between Spike TV and TNA."

TNA's current TV contract was extended to the end of the year to keep Impact on TV through the fall season, but Spike has not committed to TNA for 2015 and beyond.
