Twentieth Century Fox and WWE Films "THE MARINE" To Receive Worldwide Premiere At Camp Pendleton

Washington, D.C., September 28, 2006 - World Wrestling Entertainment® and Twentieth Century Fox will hold the worldwide premiere of the new movie from WWE Films, “THE MARINE,” at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, the U.S. Marine Corps home to more than 20,000 Marines and their families.

More than 1,300 are expected to attend the world wide premiere at Camp Pendleton on October 3. They’ll attend a red carpet event, receiving t-shirts, commemorative wrist bands and free popcorn and soda, and have a chance to greet the movie’s stars -- WWE® Champion John Cena® and Kelly Carlson – as well as WWE Superstars HHH®, Ric Flair®, Carlito™, Maria™, Candice Michelle™ and Jonathan “The Coach” Coachman™.

The event at Camp Pendleton is part of an ongoing WWE campaign to support the men and women of the U.S. military. As part of the movie’s promotional activities, Cena has been meeting Marines at WWE live events and undertook training exercises at the Marine Corp Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina. “It’s a tremendous privilege to meet the men and women of the U.S. Marines who are keeping it together for our country,” said Cena, who has visited troops on the front lines in Iraq and Afghanistan with WWE and Armed Forces Entertainment. “I cannot think of a better place to debut ‘THE MARINE’ than in front of the Marines and their families at Camp Pendleton.”

In addition to the debut of the movie, the attendees will get to see the world premiere of a new public service message from America Supports You.

"We are grateful to WWE for their longstanding support for the men and women of the United States military,” said Allison Barber, Department of Defense Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs. “WWE’s partnership with America Supports You has helped to highlight to our troops and to their families here at home the unwavering support the American people have for our soldiers, sailors, airmen, national guardsmen and Marines serving on the front lines and around the world in more than 170 countries. The worldwide premiere of ‘THE MARINE’ at Camp Pendleton event is yet another wonderful example of WWE’s support and their commitment to making sure every service member knows that America Supports You.”

“THE MARINE,” distributed by Twentieth Century Fox, will open in theaters on October 13. WWE Champion Cena makes his motion picture debut as John Triton, a heroic Marine who returns home after being discharged from the Iraq War. Stateside, he finds himself back in action, when his wife (Kelly Carlson) is kidnapped by a murderous gang led by the merciless Rome (Robert Patrick). With everything on the line, the Marine will stop at nothing to carry out his toughest and most important mission.

Located 38 miles north of downtown San Diego, Camp Pendleton is the nation’s busiest Marine base. Camp Pendleton provides training facilities for many active-duty and reserve Marines, Army and Navy units, as well as national, state and local agencies. More than 60,000 military and civilian personnel work aboard the base every day. The base is the home of I Marine Expeditionary Force, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Logistics Group and many tenant units, including elements of Marine Aircraft Group 39 and Marine Corps Tactical Systems Support Activity (MCTSSA).
