It was officially announced that Masakatsu Funaki will be defending the Legends Championship belt against Daisuke Sekimoto on December 9th at the Korakuen Hall.

This will mark the very first time that these two will have ever met in singles competition. Though they have met in tag form back in December of 2011 during the All Japan Tag League (Funaki & Masayuki Kono vs. Sekimoto & Yuji Okabayashi), a match in which Sekimoto's team lost to Funaki's team. Sekimoto stated that he is fully aware of Funaki's grappling skills, but stated that he is more than confident is his raw power to fight any attempted holds on himself.

Funaki acknowledged Sekimoto's power being an a whole new level than anyone that he has ever faced, but that makes this defense worth even more to himself. Funaki aims to compete at the highest level possible and in top form. He will be building himself up in preparation for the match and wants Sekimoto to bring everything that he has to offer in the match.

This match is being billed as potential breakthrough between one of the best submission skill wrestlers against one of the best physical power wrestlers in Japan today.

Below is the announced event card at this time...
