Former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell recently appeared on Undeniable with Joe Buck and was asked about his feud with Tito Ortiz. Liddell specifically recalled their first fight at UFC 47 in April 2004. Here’s what he had to say:
“I’m actually smirking in my walkout,” Liddell said. “That’s how confident I felt walking out. It was just one of those fights. I knew he was afraid of me.”
Liddell defeated Ortiz in the second round by KO at UFC 47. The two fought again at UFC 66 in December 2006, where Liddell won again, this time by TKO in the third round. At the time, UFC 66 was the company’s biggest pay-per-view event with over 1 million sales.
The two were originally scheduled to fight a third time at UFC 115, but Ortiz pulled out and was replaced by Rich Franklin.
