    Default Deep South Wrestling Report....

Deep South Wrestling received a visit from the Wrestlemania Fan Axxess Tour last night in McDonough, Georgia. The result was a show with more WWE starpower than the typical DSW fare.

A sellout crowd of over 300 fans at the DSW Arena was treated to in ring appearances by Tommy Dreamer, Bill DeMott, William Regal, Simon Dean, Matt Striker and Hillbilly Jim.

Ring announcer Ted Guinness introduced Ron Niemi and Lenny Leonard as the announce team for the dark matches.

    (1) Johnny Parisi beat Damien Steele in 5:55. A crisp, snug opener. Johnny Boone, sans earrings, was the ref. After working DSW shows for several months, Steele has secured a development deal. Steele worked the arm. Parisi cheated on the break to take over. Nice short arm clothesline by Parisi. Steele connected with a dropkick that left both men on the canvas. Parisi ate the 10 punches and took a swan dive onto his face. But Parisi was playing possum, as he dodged Steele’s flying bodypress. Parisi hit the Stroke (not what he calls it I’m sure) for the pin.

    (2) Frankie Caiazzo (formerly Frankie Capone) beat Onyx in 4:38. There were several points during this match when they weren’t really in synch. Onyx got great elevation on a leapfrog and came up lame. Caiazzo worked over the leg. Onyx made the comeback, but the leg gave way on him. Caiazzo moved in for the kill with a downward spiral looking thing that was so not awe inspiring called the K5. What a shame. As a worker, Caiazzo can’t lace Onyx’s boots.

The entrance of Hillbilly Jim drew a respectable pop. Jim was putting the people of the Peach State over huge when Matt Striker showed up. In an effort to be PC, Striker referred to him as “Appalachian American James.” Striker told Jim to make way for the New School. Jim let Striker know that he didn’t appreciate his obnoxious attitude. Striker tried to sneak one in, but Jim clapped Striker’s ears and gave him a spanking. The crowd ate this up. Jim did the dosey-do with Boone and capped it off with a cartwheel.

    (3) The Slaughter Brothers (Johnny & Joe) beat Scott Fantastic & Anthony Mestre in 5:04 Fantastic has some ability but he looks like the polar opposite of his name. Think civil servant moonlighting as a wrestler. Four non-contract guys and Johnny was by far the most impressive of the bunch. Johnny gave Fantastic a german suplex and pinned him with a pretty top rope elbow.

Ring announcer Dan Masters informed the crowd that they were going to see the first ever Deep South Diva Bikini Contest later in the show.

Nigel Sherrod and Striker were introduced as the announce team for the television taping. Striker was still selling the spanking.

Simon Dean entered the ring with The Gymini. Steele and Ray Gordy approached the ring. Dean said they must be numbskulls to go two against three. Out came Bill DeMott to a monster pop. That lead to…

    (4) Bill DeMott & Ray Gordy & Damien Steele beat Simon Dean & The Gymini (Mike & Todd Shane) in 6:45 DeMott gave Dean a pair of corner splashes. Dean checked his pulse before taking a face first bump. DeMott went up for the moonsault and got crotched by one of the Gyminis. Mike launched a barrage of elbow drops, as the heels isolated DeMott in their corner for next few minutes. A collision between the Gyminis set up the hot tag. Gordy cleaned house with an exploder suplex on Nova..er..Dean but Gyminis saved. This thing was breaking down. Dean tried to clock Gordy with his bag. Gordy ducked it and got a rolling reverse cradle. Dean kicked out and went for an inside cradle but Gordy rolled through for the pin. Fun match.

    (5) Montel Vontavious Porter (with Eric Perez) beat Onyx in 2:45. Job number two of the evening for the former three-time NWA Wildside Heavyweight Champion. Porter used Elix Skipper’s Play of the Day as his finisher.

    (6) Roughhouse O’Reilly beat William Regal in 6:07 It was fun to see Regal do all the little things that make a difference. Regal sold the pain being inflicted by O’Reilly’s power. O’Reilly scored with a monkey flip and followed up with a dropkick. Regal draped O’Reilly over the ropes and punted him to the floor. O’Reilly potatoed Regal for a two count. Both down after another O’Reilly dropkick. O’Reilly was up first and hit a full nelson slam to score the pinfall.

    (7) Tony Santarelli beat Kid Kash in 6:20 Santarelli is way over, and Kash is Kash, so this match had mega heat. Can’t say Santarelli looks like a cookie cutter wrestler with that lime green Mohawk. A sweet exchange of quick pins popped the crowd. Kash heeled with a kick in the gut, a poke in the eyes, a knockdown chop and a kick to the spine. They swapped leg kicks. Santarelli came out on top. A basement dropkick and a reverse sidekick scored near falls for Santarelli. Kash moonsaulted over the top of Santarelli and hit a backbreaker. Santarelli stepped through the ropes to the apron and nailed a charging Kash with an enzuigiri. 1..2..3. The crowd ate it up.

    (8) Mike Taylor beat Mike Knox in 4:20
. Knox unloaded the heavy artillery on his much smaller opponent, and it didn’t look like Taylor had the necessary firepower to cope. Taylor made a hot comeback, but Knox leveled him with a lariat for a long two count. Knox went for the Whip It, but Taylor surprised Knox with his finisher. It was like an inverted lungblower, where Knox took the double knee impact on his jaw. Derrick Neikirk hit the ring to attack Taylor. The crowd was just starting to crank up the “Tony” chant when Santarelli made the save. Hot postmatch.

It was time for the Deep South Diva Bikini Contest. The contestants were Michelle McCool, Tracy Taylor, Kristal Marshall, Tranisha and Angel Williams. Williams came out on crutches due to her torn ACL. Her performance as the bitch from hell was one of the entertainment highlights of the evening. Each Diva did a quick tease of the treasures that lie beneath their cover up. Based on crowd response, McCool would have won hands down. McCool started to strut her stuff in the bikini when Palmer Canon entered the ring. Canon ordered all of the Divas to leave the ring. Talk about easy heat. Canon said there would be no mind-numbing sex or mind-numbing violence on his network. Canon donned his safety glasses and defied any man to get in his way. The appearance of Tommy Dreamer on the ramp pretty well blew the roof off the place. The crowd broke out the “ECW” chant as Dreamer approached the ring.

    (9) Palmer Canon beat Tommy Dreamer in 7:30. The heels Divas (Williams and Tranisha) were in Canon’s corner. Dreamer had McCool, Taylor and Marshall in his corner. Dreamer hit a side Russian legsweep. More “ECW” chants. Tranisha tripped up Dreamer. McCool tripped up Canon. Tranisha took exception to this, and the babyface Divas stripped Tranisha down to her bikini. Dreamer took a helluva great looking shoulder bump into the post. Canon worked on the shoulder, cutting off Dreamer’s comeback with a divorce court for a near fall. Dreamer launched a full-fledged comeback with a reverse atomic drop. Dreamer hit a sitout spinebuster. Canon kicked out at 2 and 7/8. But Dreamer missed an elbow off the middle rope. Ref Mike Posey got bumped. Dreamer DDTed Canon but no ref. Freakin’ Deacon hit the ring to chok Dreamer out. Canon covered. Posey recovered to make the three count. Just when it looked like Dreamer’s broken down body was about to be subjected to more punishment, Dalip Singh made his way to the ring. Deacon and Canon ran away in fear of the giant. The crowd continued to applaud Dreamer as he was being helped to the back.

NOTES: Also present for the Fan Axxess experience were Teddy Long, Ron Simmons and many of the DSW wrestlers…Sonny Siaki is currently out of action with a sciatic nerve injury…The DSW television show airs on WCAG TV 33 in LaGrange, Georgia every Saturday at 11am.

Theis sounds quite a good show and the fans were given a chance to see both Kid Kash and Tommy Dreamer in action.
Although deep South is not as big as OVW it is still another of the places that the wwe send some of the new up-coming talent to learn the trade.
