Australian athletes at the 2016 Olympics in Rio were reportedly robbed of personal possessions during an evacuation of the Olympic Village.

The burglary took place after Aussie competitors left the Village due to concerns being raised about a fire.

According to news outlet 9News, 'at least three laptops and other personal possessions' were taken while the quarters were evacuated.

The incident was alleged to have taken place after a fire broke out in a car park bin, before 'around 100 officials and athletes' left the building.

The site was cleared safe before those from Down Under returned to their quarters, by which time the personal possessions had been stolen.
