Why Ric Flair was at the Royal Rumble:

Ric Flair was brought into the Royal Rumble to appear following John Cena's WWE title win, so Flair could strap the belt around Cena's waist for his 16th title victory, which would tie Flair's fictional record.

Earlier today, the decision was made to scrap the segment, which was to take place in front of the live crowd and instead film something that would be posted on WWE's social media platforms.
