Ring of Honor announced on Thursday that Dalton Castle will challenge ROH World Champion Cody (Rhodes) in the main event of next month’s Final Battle pay-per-view.

Cody has been ROH World Champion since defeating Christopher Daniels at Best In The World back on June 23rd. Since then, he’s fended off all challengers, including KUSHIDA and Minoru Suzuki. This match has ben building for months and Dalton Castle will finally get his shot at the ROH World title in just over four weeks.

ROH’s website writes, “For Castle, this match is not only an opportunity to reach the pinnacle of professional wrestling but also to shove every word back down the champion’s throat. Cody, just over one year after his ROH debut, has an opportunity to walk into ROH’s premier event as World Champion defeating a man who he looks down on, a man he calls only a gimmick, a man who he doesn’t truly believe is a championship-caliber wrestler.”

ROH Final Battle 2017 takes place Friday night, December 15th from New York City at the Manhattan Center’s Hammerstein Ballroom. The show will broadcast live on pay-per-view and the FITE.tv app.
