WrestleKingdom this year is scheduled to be the main event by Tetsuya Naito vs. Kazuchika Okada for the IWGP Heavyweight championship. Chris Jericho, on the other hand, believes his semi-main event match with Kenny Omega is the real headling match on the show.

Naito disagrees…

Naito responds to @KennyOmegamanX calling #njwk12 a double main event. 'One, I've been through this. I've been called 'double main event one'. It doesn't mean anything. It's the semi main event.' https://t.co/wamY2P3bjG

Only once has the IWGP Heavyweight title match not headlined the annual Tokyo Dome show. Coincidentally, the IWGP Heavyweight title match that didn’t main event the show was also Naito challenging Okada.

For WrestleKingdom 8, NJPW allowed fans to vote on which title match would headline the show. Fans voted for the IWGP Intercontinental championship match between Shinsuke Nakamura and Hiroshi Tanahashi to close out the show.
