WWE has announced that Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore (Eric Arndt) has been released. The news comes after Phoenix Police confirmed that they investigating Arndt for sexual assault from an incident that allegedly occured back on October 19th at the Clarendon Hotel and Spa. On Monday, a woman accused Enzo Amore of the assault and posted a detailed description of the alleged altercation.

WWE first responded to the news on Tuesday by suspending him “until this matter is resolved.”

“WWE has zero tolerance for matters involving sexual harassment or sexual assault. Until this matter is resolved, Eric Arndt (aka Enzo Amore) has been suspended.”

It remains to be seen what led WWE to release Enzo just one day after suspending him ‘pending investigation.’ Reporter Sean Ross Sapp states that WWE did not find out about the rape allegation and pending investigation until yesterday. If so, that would certainly be grounds for firing. Had WWE known Enzo Amore was under investigation for sexual assault, would they have made him Cruiserweight Champion and the focal point of 205 Live? Highly unlikely.

WWE’s decision to release him aside, Eric Arndt is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

This is a developing story and we will provide an update when more information becomes available.
