ESPN has published a full preview for the upcoming fourth season of Lucha Underground. The 22-episode fourth season premieres Wednesday, June 13th on the El Rey Network.

The ESPN features a first look at the Lucha Underground Season 4 Extended Trailer, which will air during tonight’s “Season 3 Greatest Hits” episode.

Lucha Underground head writer and co-executive producer Chris DeJoseph explained to ESPN that they’re taking a new approach with season 4.

“When we were doing [Seasons] 2 and 3, we finished two and then we went right into three. Here, we’re trying to tell as many stories as possible but in a shorter period of time. It’s obviously a little bit different, but I think sometimes it’s good because we put the pedal to the metal and go for it.”

Season 4 began filming in February, a full year later than originally planned. They shot the entire season in a month, a much faster shooting schedule than previous reasons.

“It was really hard, really stressful. Really hard on everybody,” DeJoseph admitted. “It was a really crazy ride doing it that fast and doing that many [episodes], but we all stuck together, hung in there, and pushed through it. There’s a lot of late nights and a lot of hours worked, but in the end I think the show will prove once again ‘Lucha Underground’ separates itself from anything else that’s out there.”

In addition to the new faces joining the cast of Lucha Underground, the show was filmed from an a different location. Departing from the warehouse in Boyle Heights that hosted the first three seasons, the new episodes will take place from an old icehouse in downtown Los Angeles across the river fron the old warehouse. Just as the original Temple was an integral part of the Lucha Underground universe, DeJoseph says the location change will be part of the storyline of season 4.

“[Switching locations] gave us a lot of new things to play with,” DeJoseph said. “It will play out over the storyline — there’s a reason why “The Temple” has been moved to this particular location. It’s a really great set. You’ll see some of the cool sets and the things we were able to do that we weren’t even able to do at our last location.”
