WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair has made his first public comments about his recent surgery.

If you recall, just last week, the pro wrestling legend underwent the knife for an ileostomy procedure. At first, it was reported that he was scheduled to get surgery to remove a colonoscopy bag but that was not the case. Flair wrote the following on his official Twitter account:

Thank You To All The Staff At Gwinnett Medical Center For The Excellent Care During My Stay! I Was So Lucky To Be In The Hands Of An Amazing Surgeon, Dr. James Elsey. Truly Grateful For Everything! The Naitch Is Back Up And Runnin’! @GwinnettMedical

His fiancé, Wendy Barlow, went on record by telling Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet that the procedure had to be done after his health scare last summer and reverse the stoma that way he’ll no longer be forced to drain the bag.

The reason for the confusion at the time about the surgery was the differences between the two procedures as an ileostomy is defined as an opening in the belly (abdominal wall) that is made during surgery and that the lowest part of the small intestine is brought through this opening to form a stoma while surgery to remove a colonoscopy bag applies to the large intestine and not the small intestine.

Flair was last seen on WWE television when he appeared on a November 2017 edition of SmackDown Live to congratulate Charlotte Flair after she won the SmackDown Women’s Title from Natalya in Charlotte, North Carolina.
