Bate and Strong face off on final stop before TakeOver

With their teams set to square off in a decisive rubber match for the NXT Tag Team Titles at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 4, Tyler Bate and Roderick Strong will first fight it out in one-on-one competition this week on WWE NXT with Trent Seven and Kyle O’Reilly in their respective corners.





- Show opens with "In memory of" Jim Neidhart.

- Last week, NXT GM William Regal announced Johnny Gargano vs. Tommaso vs. Black for the NXT Championship at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn, but Black was attacked in the NXT parking lot. Regal then decided Ciampa would take on Gargano for the title in a Last Man Standing Match on Saturday.

The Street Profits vs. The Mighty

Miller and Ford get things started, Miller with a number of strikes until he brings Ford over to his corner. In comes Thorne and continues to hammer away on Ford. Ford is able to bring in Dawkins a couple double team moves sent The Mighty out of the ring much to the crowd's delight.

Thorne back in the ring against Dawkins, couple chops, Dawkins tries for a strike, misses, Thorne smacks him in the back of the head. Miller back in the ring and hammers away on Dawkins, taunts Ford a bit on the apron. Thorne kicks away at Dawkins and brings him back to his corner. Miller tagged back in and he continues to keep Dawkins grounded. Thorne and Miller with some double team moves as they continue to work on Dawkins. He's finally able to avoid an attack and tag in Ford. Penalty kick on Miller, tries for a pin on Thorne, 2-count. Ford counters a move on Thorne, rolls him up and holds the tights for the 1-2-3.

- Post-match, Ford asks for his drink from the camera man and celebrates in the crowd.

- Velveteen Dream live later tonight.

- Backstage, Shayna Baszler is giving Aliyah some last minute tips against her opponent tonight, Kairi Sane.

- Backstage, Undisputed Era talks about having to destroy Moustache Mountain again at TakeOver. Strong talks about how the War Raiders said they were coming after whoever left TakeOver with the titles and how they aren't worried about any teams in the division.

Kairi Sane vs. Aliyah

Before the match can get going, out comes Shayna Baszler to get a closer look at Sane. Baszler heads over to commentary. Some shoving early on as Aliyah gets over to the ropes to get Sane to back up. Sane with an early roll-up, and goes right into a stretch muffler submission. Aliyah gets to the ropes and hits a kick to Sane's midsection. Aliyah with a couple strikes, tries for a kick, gets blocked. Swinging neckbreaker by Sane.

Spear by Sane, sliding elbow into her opponent's face. Insane elbow by Sane off the top rope, not once, not twice, but three times. Sane goes for a pin and pulls up Aliyah, much to the crowd's surprise. Baslzer is taking notice now and stands up on the announce table. Sane then locks in the anchor and points back at Baszler as Aliyah taps out.

Winner: Kairi Sane

- Vignette for NXT North American Champion Adam Cole and Ricochet, we see clips of both wrestlers who will face each other at TakeOver. Ricochet says at the Ladder Match he had his hands on the title, but wasn't able to quite grab it. Cole talks about beating the best Ricochet so he will be the undisputed champion.

- Velveteen Dream heads out to the ring, this Saturday he will meet EC3. Crowd with a "Velveteen" chant. He finds it the crowd is cheering for him right now. Dream talks about how EC3 is so "smart, clever, and charming," and he now has EC3's has the Dream's attention. Crowd continues the chanting as he talks.

"Saturday, it will be dream over" and out comes EC3. "So, this is what is sounds like when doves cry?" EC3 says. Crowd liked that line, Dream, not so much. "Sick fanny pack, by the way!" Dream didn't appreciate that either. EC3 says Dream shouldn't even bother getting in his head because he builds condos in other people's heads. Dreams says this Saturday EC3 won't get his victory, it will be dream over. Crowd with a "fanny pack" chant. EC3 takes his suit jacket off and says there's no need to wait for Brooklyn, how about they do this right now. Dream takes off his jacket, tosses it on EC3 and gets in a sucker punch, EC3 is able to fight back and hit the one-percenter.

- We see new footage of Aleister Black's attack in the NXT parking lot. We see a number of Superstars around the area like Johnny Gargano, Undisputed Era, Heavy Machinery, Kairi Sane, Kassius Ohno, Candice LeRae, Ricochet and others.

- Recap of the long history between NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano. The two will meet for the title on Saturday in a Last Man Standing Match. We see clips of Gargano accidentally helping Ciampa win the title by smacking Black in the head with the title during Black's match against Ciampa a couple weeks ago.

- WWE Performance Center, Biance Belair continues to train to get ready for in-ring action.

- Next week: Pete Dunne defends his UK Championship Title against Zack Gibson.

Roderick Strong (with Kyle O'Reilly) vs. Tyler Bate (with Trent Seven)

Bate with the early attack, Strong fights back, but Bate hits a back body drop and then a kick to the face. O'Reilly is already trying to get involved and gets in a distraction for Strong to plant Bate into the mat. Strong with a chop, Bate tries to fight back, but Strong gets him to the match and goes for a choke submission in the middle of the ring. Crowd somewhat split for this match in favor of Bate. Strong with a back breaker, cover, two-count.

Strong with another chop, both up on the top rope, Strong get sent face-first down to the mat and a diving european uppercut flattens Strong. Bate continues to swing away on his opponent, sends him into the corner, exploder suplex, kip-up, running shooting star press, cover, two-count. Bate tries for an airplane spin, back gives out, Strong misses a lariat, Bate with a suplex with the bridge, two-count. Back and forth strikes ends with Bate trying a roll-up, two. Strong with a high knee in the corner, spikes Bate face first, cover, two.

Strong with a back breaker, tries to finishes things off, Bate counter, and rolls up Strong, two. Rebound lariat by Bate and Strong rolls out of the ring to find salvation. Bate flies to the outside and clears out Strong. Bate looks to end things, O'Reilly gets up on the apron and is smacked off, so is Seven. Bate hammers Strong, hits a rolling kick, tyler driver hits, pin, 1-2-3.
