The main event of the upcoming WWE Evolution pay-per-view event may have been revealed. Dave Meltzer noted on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that the idea going around within the WWE is to have former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey take on former WWE Divas Champion Nikki Bella in the headliner of this all women’s event.

The longtime pro wrestling journalist noted that the feeling is that since both of the superstars are the biggest female names in the company in terms of the mainstream media, WWE wants to have these two main event the PPV. It was added that WWE officials believe that a match between them can get them mainstream media attention for the show.

This does play into the latest announcement for the show as the company announced on Saturday, August 18th that Alexa Bliss would take on WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus at the show.

Bella has not wrestled a match in a WWE ring since March where she teamed up with John Cena to beat Elias and Sonya Deville at a live event at MSG. She also wrestled in January at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event where she competed as a participant in the Women’s Royal Rumble match.

The Evolution pay-per-view event takes place on Sunday, October 28, 2018 in Long Island, New York at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum and will air on the WWE Network.
